Right - I've been far too busy actually making this (and talking about it on another thread), so here it is so far...

I built the control panel before I even got the main sheet mdf for the rest of the machine

Coin door aperture cut out and coin door checked out - note the extra thick rugged base unit!

Mock up with some bits to see if it all fitted (believe me I checked a lot before actually taking this picture!

It looks smart. So, is the batonning the additional strips of wood inside the cab? Pethaps I've just answered my own question.

Yes. Nintendo used rebates on the insides and just glue and brads (headless nails) to hold the cab together.

As I am using mdf, which is basically card board, I have glued and screwed the batons for extra strength inside the cab. There are no screwheads on the outsides at all.

Got to work out the inner monitor board rails next.

The monitor (hanty) will be on a square board which can be rotated and slipped into the rails. For some popeye action!

If nintendo had thought of this they wouldn't have needed those ugly bolts thru the bloody sideart!

I intend to do mine in a vibrant turquoise colour. I like the colourways for the rest of the art, bezel, marquee and cpo....funky as!

Nice work....and a lot of it!

Would it not have been a good idea to paint the insides black first Vic to save the aggravation once it's assembled? Having to mask is a ball ache on these.

I'm going to paint the insides black. Just with a roller and foam brushes for the edges. Shouldn't need to mask anything as I'll do the entire insides black.

If I'd painted before hand I'd bound to have scraped n scuffed the paintwork whilst building.
