What Are You Up To?

I'm pretty sure some of you must have more going on in your lives than re-living childhood arcade memories. Or maybe I'm wrong?

And. I'm sure some of you are finding you've currently got a bit more time on your hands than usual due to the current tragic goings-on.

So.... what are you up to?

I'll go first.... As I'm currently working from home (thank God), in-between responding to tech support calls I'm extending my wife's cat rescue outdoor run. She can't rehome any moggies for the foreseeable future so we're giving them all the extra space we can find. Another week will probably see it done.... if our customers can manage without my assistance, that is.

After that, I may finally get back onto my mame rebuild I started a couple of years ago. Anything is better than decorating!

What about you chaps? Some of you must be at home, either working, or furloughed. What's happening?

I'm still working so I haven't got any time to work on any of the bigger projects but with being slightly less busy at the weekend I've finally got around to sorting the marquee section out on one of my cabs.

For 6 years it's looked like this..

I had been looking for the proper marquee retainers but it's always been low priority and haven't found any yet so I've made do with some angle. It will do for now, at least I can put the marquee back in.

Other than enjoying the rare sunshine from the depths of my inflatable hot tub It has mostly been a bit of decorating :)Luckily I was in the middle of getting everything I needed to redecorate the Bedroom in a haunted mansion theme, I've learned in doing it that Custom wallpaper makes Custom artwork for Bartops look cheap :) I've also learned that none of my walls or floors are close to square or level :)

I've also learned that having to put 140 lines of frog tape onto the walls so I could paint the black stripes was a complete killer on my back. I'm just waiting on some picture frames so I can hang the artwork and I will be calling that job complete. Then it's onto the other bedroom which is seemingly going to be getting a Mickey/Minnie theme.

At this rate by the time lockdown ends all the rooms in my house will be Disneyfied :)

I've been working on a Electrocoin Capcom Tournament cab for a little while now.

Took a photo of the before and after but so far:

- Reattached all missing/falling off parts
- replaced the power supply
- replaced all the buttons, joystick and microswitches
- (poorly) cut an acrylic cover to protect the control panel art
- marquee and new trims added
- repainted some areas (and still doing)

Next up I've just got the chassis back from Gunblade but now I need a new tube but in the meantime I need to:

- Get a new coin mech that is actually programmed
- finish off the rest of the trim
- get the new tube in whenever I can get one
- sort out some form of bezel

Some pics:

It's... Keeping me busy at least! Devil_Mish2020-04-19 21:31:25

I'm doing a crap home school until lunchtime, then I work at home until night time.

It's been OK, but I could do with a holiday from my kids.

Could fancy a decent takeaway too

.

No arcade projects yet but somehow managed to fit in rather a lot.

Got my office into a useable state (had to finish off painting),

Fitted a load of shelving units to my garage (which was an utter tip).

Removed, welded and painted the front wing of my old Golf. Radiator swap next.

Hopefully get a bit of tinkering in at some point. I was hoping to make a cab, but like the cupboards I want to make for my study, it's rather hard when the local woodyard is closed and you're in lockdown.

Luckily I'm a 5 minute jog from the beach, so still getting my weekly run in.

I'm probably scum to the tabloids, as you shouldn't be:

1. Doing DIY - you might end up needing A&E

2. Buying non-essential items

3. Drinking - lowers your immune system.

4. Leaving the house for utterly anything, it would seem, going off all that 'covidiot' press and social media busybody w**kerism.

I work for the NHS at a hospital so work carries on for me. I am working to finish my garage arcade conversion on the quiet weekends though. Also trying to convince my Sega F355 to boot, and waiting to pull my Confidential Mission from storage as the unit needs to be cleared.chris29222020-04-20 19:16:23

I was finally getting it tidy enough to actually take some pics a few weeks back but then corona hit and the wife started hoarding toilet roll, water, pasta etc and it's all ended up in my little arcade

On top of that she's working from home and had been decluttering the house and chucking more stuff in there while I was at work. Cheeky bitch, I've changed the locks now, that's stopped her!

So yeah, I will take proper pics once I've got rid of all the crap stacked in front of them. There's a couple more on that side too that aren't in shot._Matt_2020-04-20 20:03:09

Tidying the garage and testing PCB's - once lockdown is relaxed a bit I'll have a load of stuff to sell.

Just found out I have 4 * CPS3, 4 * F3, 3 * CPS1, 3 * M32, 6 * Naomi-1, 8 JVS-JAMMA Adapters and 8 pcbs I picked up from YAJ before SMJ shutdown I've not even unpacked yet.

Now I've fixed the PSU in my supergun and made some working space I can have a good testing session...
