Don't bother with the USB to VHS rubbish on Feebay, a good capture card or a dvd recorder with RW discs and a good dvd ripping software like DVDRIP

For an easy to use option I would go with the combi VHS - DVD-RW units that Alpha1 posted.

Especially if a non-tech head is going to be using it, in most cases its a 1 button press and you can just leave it running.

I had all sorts of video capture stuff on the PC, but got a cheap DVD recorder to connect up to the TC - it's so much easier!

if you have something you want in better quality, do it at the 1 hour per disk rate, overlap slightly and import the lot into the video editing software - then join together (at a suitable frame) and export the lot to DVD with 2 pass compression to fill the disc.

(DVD recorders do every frame as a P frame, so re-doing it on the PC will make it smaller without necessarily losing quality)

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. However, i picked this up yesterday and it has done a fairly good job of some old tapes I had;

There is some "1 and done" software that is quite simple, or Studio14 recognises it too.

I now have a dvd of "Flight of Dragons" and "The Keep" again
