When gamefields go off centre?

Hi All,

What are the common causes of the game field not staying central on the screen? The Superbug has shifted the entire playfield about an inch down the screen, which means the text at the bottom is only partially displayed and the car sprite doesn't line up with the colour overlay. I'm guessing probably something needs looking at on the monitor, but can a fault on the board trigger this behaviour too? The reason I ask is that I've seen another board for sale (always good to have a back up) and it appears to have the same fault. I'm not paying the asking price if that board needs fixing too

Is it a horiz or vert game? Could be as simple as drift on the H or V positioning, so try tweaking the monitor controls first if you haven't already. Alternatively, pics please

Hiya. It's a vertical orientation I believe. I can try and get some piccies tomorrow, but you might be able to see what it's doing in this video:

You can just make out that the "Game Over/Score" text at the bottom is cut off and the "free play/bonus for 90" text at the top appears to be two colours (where it now sits 50/50 under the coloured overlay). The car is also only partially yellow for the same reason. I've got some minor issues with the monitor anyway (some crackling coming from the tube/HV Cup) so could all be related?

Sounds like a dry joint. Does it right itself if you knock the monitor?

Adjust the horizontal position (H POS) on your monitor to line the car up inside the yellow dot on the overlay, then adjust the horizontal width (H.Width) to make the scores and other info line up at the top and the bottom.

P13/14 of the 2nd printing manual, you do have one, and have read it cover to cover right?

Thanks to you guys though, most of my queries appear to be answered as monitor/monitor tweaking work, so I am going to snap up the second board that's for sale so I've got a legit backup/spare. It's time I moved to phase 2 of collecting and had a spare parts hoard.
