Caught me off guard recently when I referenced something that was on one of the forums on the other forum... and a mod didn't know what I was talking about!

As someone who joined the party last year, I failed to see the difference between the two sites at first... but they are clearly slightly different communities with UKVAC loving the older more classic cabs a bit more and JAMMA+ being a bit more about the games. That sound about right?

I posted the same thread on both boards and the differences in responses starkly highlighted that!

Funny, yes :)

I was hinting at the difference, too. I don't really see one and wondered why they didn't just merge and save a few quid.

you can do it through your browser... (google chrome, internet explorer, etc)

go to this link:

http://www.wsirc.com/

then go to right hand side of the page and enter the details as below (change the username to anything you want) .. then click the connect button ... (and then wait 5-10 seconds to be logged on)

I remember the newsgroups. Looks like some of the posts were imported onto here a long while back, although the usernames were blanked.

Edit: crickey, the old arcade collecting and marketplace newsgroups are still around. Bit freaky reading your own posts from 18 years ago.John Bennett2016-05-26 23:05:26

Just had a search of that and found my earliest post there was in 1999. Now I feel old !

I'm not sure the exact date UKVAC started, certainly
it was an entity by our first meeting in early 1997.

I didn't do IRC so it must have been a newsgroup

in those early days too.

RGVAC came into existence 22nd December 1993 when it split

from the more general arcade games newsgroup, but

obviously many collectors had been active online long

before that.
