We had some strange clouds like that in ireland last June.

Apparently :
Lenticular clouds (Altocumulus lenticularis) are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form in the troposphere, normally in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction.

Same by me. This was around 5pm. Wierd colours, and when I drove off around the corner I noticed pics similar to the the ones posted earlier with bright white oval shapes. Kept expecting an independence day style ship to pop out of one of them.
