I must admit to being very impressed so far man, especially with the game pad, it's really cool.
So far spent the most time on Nintendo Land with the kids as the 12 mini games on it are really good fun, Mario U is excellent as well.
Zombi U is pretty good too, so far so good

What puts me off the Xbox full stop is the XBL Gold subscription tax. It's become pretty much required these days unless you want to just put discs in - be they game disks or DVDs.

We didn't go for the WiiU either. I'm utterly, utterly sick to death of all the party game rubbish Nintendoo keep churning out. It's fine if you have kids but we don't, we're firmly a family of adult gamers.

Also, since I now exclusively game on PC I've told the Mrs that this time round we won't be buying all the consoles when new versions come out. She has to pick one, stick to it and accept that very occasionally there will be a game she can't play (it's very rare these days). I'm hoping she goes for the next gen Xbox but it's her choice (with a bit of prodding in whatever direction from me).

If we're down to just the one console then I'd suffer the XBL tax.

I've been reading that it's generally considered to have bombed which surprises me. The Wii seemed so successful because they created a new input method (still think Wiimotes beat Kinect for everyday use and the PS3 'thing' totally) so I was expecting the second screen tablet controller to give them a similar market boost.

Any idea why it's not gone well? Do the games suck, is the second screen being used as a gimmick or have Ninty completely dropped the ball on 1st/2.5 party software releases?

Lack of big titles seems to be one biggy, as is a complete lack of advertising(so much so most folk still seem to think it's an add-on) and no real exclusives for it.

It's a shame as it's still a decent wee machine

I've not played mine since release day

I might pick up Monster Hunter this month, but aside from that, there's nothing else come out recently I'm remotely interested in. The releases have been very thin on the ground up to this point

I think the whole console market is a little stagnant at the moment full stop. It seems to go in peaks and troughs but right now, the PC seems to be getting all the love (yay!). I guess you have to wonder if it's because the next gen consoles from MS and Sony are starting to divert the software houses attentions?

I've heard MS are announcing their next console on May 21st?

I think the decline of modern gaming for me definitely ties in with meeting my wife and having kids.
I now have internet forums to fill the void
