So I was helping to improve the Air Quality but got ripped off over £300 a year driving the 3rd Highest polluting Vehicle  Great

Now you take the exact same HRV that is registered before 2001 when it was taxed on engine size, anything less than 1.6 is cheaper tax....but because they give the engine a different euro compliance number even though the engine/emissions never changed from 1999-2006 and pre 2001 is not Ulez friendly and you have to pay

Same for Honda Insight mk1 which is £200 road tax for pre 2001 registered after 2001 it's free tax because the emissions are less than 100g/km probably one of the cleanest cars still, 1.0L Lean Burn Petrol with IMA Electric Assist, awesome MPG with low drag as made from Aluminium

Problem is they make everything easier for people with paying through Phones, Cards while getting more in Debt because you don't see what your spending, I just hate it all, sick of this 2 Step Authentication, Pushing you to use APPs fecking APPs  put this app on ya phone, oh yeah then we sell all the date we collected from it, DATA being the new GOLD it's why you get cheap burgers from McDonalds because you use the app and they collect everything on you, same with store apps in tesco, asda but as more get desperate with inflation, more use them to save money with offers, Not me... not using any of it

The older I get the more I think it's all by design, whilst the majority of people are shouting at the devious sods playing the fool, the same devious sods are diverting peoples attention with nonsense whilst laughing all the way to the bank with their swag.

This is Government and Mainstream Media

I pay tax on my wages, then have to tax the car (My old Polo is now £200, up from £180 last year), I also pay tax on fuel and now have to pay LEZ/CAZ tax. And if I want to use the M42 to M6 toll, I gotta pay for that too.....How many sodding times am I getting taxed here! :ROFLMAO: Car insurance on my old Polo went up from £300 to over £500 with 14 years no claims. The same Polo manufactured the year after costs £10.

My old Mk1 Golf is almost 40 years old. No TAX, no CAZ, no MOT from next year and I got quoted £154 insurance but without any no claims protection. It's a no brainer to try get it back on the road if I can, it's been stored in a dry garage since 1998 so who knows what lays in store when we crack the tomb of the old GTI!

Supermarkets had to adapt but they are not exempt from future market crashes, Asda selling off some of their properties is such a bad move long term imo. The people that bought Boots did the same thing and now a lot of stores are at the mercy of the landlords whereas before they owned the buildings. Debenhams was ransacked and picked dry. One Morrisons I went to last year turned off most of the lights in the store at 8:30pm. Supermarkets are not exempt from the ongoing squeeze.

Grew up with Wilko's this is where most of my stationary for school came from when at high school and college. Then when I went uni that is where all our cleaning stuff came from as really cheap. I still use it now although less stores down south than up in midlands. I love Wilko's !!
I remember the one on Coalville a man used to sell dodgy stuff right outside , he was a street trader. I dont know if people rememeber when 3d t-shirts were a thing in the 80's. It was stuff like Jaws etc. He sold a load of them but got in trouble selling some clever Mr Men shirts that had "adult" characters ! Remembet ot being in the Leicester Mercury.

Been hearing bad things about Bournemouth last few years ☹️ used to be good fun back in the day. I see they are attempting to rejuvenate Poole where Wimpy used to be but nothing there either these days.
I actually saw a wimpy last week while on holiday in a town near woolacombe, not seem one in about 30 years !!!

Oddly i bought a mk1 1 golf that had stood in a field for years, did ,minimum work on it and was great for about a year. Then it was a shit on a daily basis . I went through 2 head gaskets !! My biggest advise a fault that I spent about £250 and took a year to find it was REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER. The petrol tanks on these rust like hell and clog the fuel. You'll notice it when it stops at roundabouts and you get weird firing and flames ! I would love a mk1 golf again but I cant put up with the hassle. Maybe I was unlucky ! I would actually have money to spend on it now, rather than when I was a student and it really pissed me off !

I am from Bristol unless they changed it they had no exemption for charities around the ULEZ stuff. There was a charity that helps to prevent suicide that expected to have to pay 15K over the year out charity funding. I saw some rich twat councillor say the fees should force people to get electric cars, yes we all have 30K in our back pockets. The bus station referred to by David is next to the Bear pit subway, its not the nicest of places. I rather risk being ran over above it instead !

I've just spend a month sorting my CRX mk3 out to get it back on the road only to find the tax gone up another £20, because it's 1.6 it's £325 a year now and it will keep rising, for a car that will probably be used a few times in a year its not worth it, so now i find myself selling it

Originally I was going to sell my Mk1 CRX, having seen a guy struggling to sell his for much over £1000 I'm thinking keep it, get that on the road and in a year and a bit it's 40th birthday is coming up and that's free Tax, no Mot and cheap Insurance and Ulez free and the Mk2 is only 1.5 so £200 a year tax

If it was about clean air and saving the planet you wouldn't mind as much but it's not about that at all, Climate Change nonsense is what's driving most of this were seeing now, it's all insane when you look into it. See the Wind Turbine on the news in Norfolk area, Caught fire

But those MP's aren't struggling or being affected by any of it, they know all the tricks to get around paying Tax too

Any Updates on wilko's, as much as people will miss the stores if they go, you have to feel for all the poor staff loosing jobs, all these Self Service Checkouts reducing staff too, they should encourage customers not to use them, I walked out Coop last weekend, 2 staff and one was sat outside having a fag break, no one at till and I refuse to use them at all with CCTV on it, so chucked the 2 items on side and walked out, saved me wasting more money also

South Shields has one of the best beaches in the country, but the town centre is a shithole.
Even back during GCSE days you knew the C.B.D's* were shrinking due to retail parks taking over, but maybe online has accelerated it a bit more.

The thing is, I don't order that much online - I do go to lots of shops for DIY - Wickes, Toolstation, Screwfix, and we obviously go shopping at Asda etc, and they're all in the town, but a short walk from the main street, which is dead. And sadly the nice old buildings in the main street aren't the style people want for such shops, nor could you pull up a car outside them. They also seem to have a habit of catching fire when left empty for years, which staggeringly is grounds to have them de-listed and demolished  .
I really like the idea of browsing shops - many memories of computer game shops, but there's been sod-all of interest for year in the town centre. And Wilko was a depressing place compared to somewhere like Lidl.
It feels like the council are verging on bankruptcy, but they think spending millions to move the marine college to the town centre will fix things. Seems desperate to me.
And sadly, like most places there are people off their faces sat on plant pots all over the town. People barely even go to pubs now either. They get arseholed at home then stagger into a nightclub at 12am.
I thought Tynemouth over the river was doing much better, but it's 90% coffee shops and bars when you look closer.

*Central Business District, not the places trying to look like weed shops.

I think you can register a vehicle as being ULEZ compliant if it isnt by default, as long as it meets the emissions requirements for whatever EURO4 is. You need to get a certificate of conformity from the Manufacturer which annoyingly you have to pay something like £70 for to show its emissions.

I know motorcycle owners were able to do something like have an independent test on their bike to show it met emissions standards when it wasnt automatically exempt by being EURO3.

When I had my 2001 HRV I asked DVLA about replacing engine and being lower emissions lower the tax but NO, not a chance with that, the BS reply was... it's not just the engine, there are other things that determine the emissions, Hmm like what, er the ECU and Exhaust so when the engine from Civic is using the original ECU and Manifold/Cat there isn't anything else to alter emissions and gave no option to even get it tested to prove, so try and do your bit for environment and no keep driving that higher polluting one is fine, just pay us more tax:sneaky:. Thats when I bought a 2000 model with same engine and swapped it because going down to 1.5 lowers my tax by half and i get more mpg

Crazily as some pointed out, you can buy a 1.0L enginer car, wack in a V8 or what every engine and your tax will stay same on ones after march 2001

No, we can do things to improve what were doing like saving on resources but the whole Climate Change emergency is total nonsense, trouble is if your a scientist and you speak out you get defunded, cancelled etc, so not many speak out, David Bellamy apparently questioned it and that's when his Career ended, Johnny Ball possibly too, I'm just playing along with the game when I say about helping the environment with a lower polluting car, really I want to lower how much I pay because we get ripped off and save money on fuel at same time, that does help though, if everyone was in more economical cars you wouldn't need as much fuel, also people could drive slower and more efficient but they don't in company cars because they don't pay

What happened to the War on Plastics, I know lets get people stopping smoking, but the government will loose billions in tax so we'll create vaping and now all you see is disposable vaping crap everywhere, there insane, why did they move away from Soap and create liquid wash in plastic bottles, but then were told we need to save the planet, we didn't create the current problems though of everything in plastic.

At the same time as all this, I think about the Retro Arcades, Shops, Pubs etc and what it's doing to with them with all this, yeah I do care which is why I say things

As with the GBD, the WCD has been ignored by mainstream politicians and media. But since last August, it has attracted another 500 signatories, and the current list numbers 1,609 scientists and professionals. Over 300 academics at professorial levels have signed the list, while Dr John Clauser is the second Nobel physics laureate to lend support. thats the World Climate Declaration

Anyway enough of that from me, get back on topic about Wilko's and Arcade machines as that's what were here for and I'm not here to fall out with anyone :)
