Myself and othwr half are quite similar with many things but i dont like silence much, where as she does

Just wondered when you working on machines or other stuff do you have music or TV on or nothing to concentrate

Always loved music but dont put it on enough these days, Have TV quite a bit for backfround noise as you can just leave on, sony tv i had was good for that as you could turn off screen leaving sound on. With the current wave ov football, Olympics and Horse Racing its all rubbish so music on more lately

Yesterday i had Genesis and Phil Collins going most of day

Today so far its 808 State, then some Wet Wet Wet i think, good old memories of being on C64 when there first album out

If I’m pottering about I like some music or some background conversation on R4 or a podcast.

I can’t stand music in the office though. I once worked in an office with mechanics and they couldn’t seem to function without the same 50 songs on loop on Absolute Radio. I just couldn’t concentrate and it was a constant distraction for me. The songs were bad enough, let alone the barrage or adverts and self promotions blaring out.

Yeah, the ads are a bit annoying, but I can just say "Alexa, shut up!".

And when I say TV, I mean a movie or something on britbox. Can't stand freeview. Watched something on there last night for the first time in ages, and that was bad enough.

I am one of those people that likes background noise, music for me all day long, I'd happily wake to the radio and have it on all the time. My wife on the other hand likes silence and will often come in and turn off said radio. They are away at the mo, so its been endless CDs or youtube mixes for me. Even had Styrkrs albums on this week on bandcamp.

Silence if I have to concentrate.

If I have something robotic to do (route a PCB, cut-and-paste coding/documentation exercise), I can get away with music, as long as it's familiar enough not to be intrusive, but it feels kinda-a-waste of good tunes.

I've been listening to the 10pence podcast whilst sorting cabs/garage.

Getting near end of episodes now if anyone knows of any other good arcade casts.

I usually like to listen to something like podcasts (arcade/Liverpool footy) and music (Metal/punk/HC/rock) top volume!

If ever I'm getting frustrated with something like a rusted screw or something more delicate I instantly have to switch off any music or pods as my mind just can't cope and I'll end up smashing something

No TV for me as I don't own one.

Music playing constantly in my work shop when I'm in there eves and weekends. Youtube on auto play with add blockers so no interruptions at all.

Genre? Almost exclusively female fronted symphonic rock... Seven Spires, Eleine, Rainover, Ignea, Nightwish, Imperia, Walk In Darkness, and loads loads more.

Phil Collins is for wrinklies.

Silence. Worked for a place who had Radio 1 on all day and I loathed it. Chris Moyles and his toadies were the worst, quite how people listened to that and enjoyed it I'll never know.

When doing my job I prefer silence as it usually requires a lot of concentration. If I'm doing a simple task I like to listen to Radio 2 and test myself on Pop Master

This is only since working from home alone though, don't like a radio on in the office. I can't stand Radio 1 as I hate everything about it, or any of the commercial stations as the adverts drive me mad.

When working on cabs I like to listen to Radio 2 (during the week), Test Match Special (cricket) if it's on, or catchup with the excellent Forgotten 80s show via the Absolute Radio app (free and no ads).

None of this is with earphones on though as I can't get on with them with my brain fog.

Ok, this all makes me sound really sad!
