Xbox and Mame

Hi chaps!

Had a modchipped xbox for a while now but never bothered to delve into it until now.
Installed Evox easily via a Slayer disc and ftp a version of Mame (after hacking a spare patch cable to crossover)

So now I know what the holidays will bring! However trying to find info is a bit hit and miss so just wondered if anyone here has setup, emulator recommendations?

Also I'm guessing it's my cable but I tried Bombjack and Centipede and it looked pretty awful. (LCD telly unfortunately) but even my snes & famicom look better

Just grab CoinOps, it should cover most bases for you.

softmodded a xbox years ago and used coinops but the video from the standard cable was crap (576i composite iirc) so its been in the loft since. I guess with an rgb cable and a CRT it would look better but I don't really see the point, a low-end pc does the job better.

Yeah, the full version is about 80 gig I think, if it's still open there was also the xbins ftp that was a good place to get all the emulators and other apps.

Yes the 'Massive' version you need a 100GB+ drive but there is a cut down version for the standard one.

I use mine on an old 19/20" CRT TV I got off freecycle, which makes it look better, I don't like using it on an HD flat screen TV, as it automatically tries to stretch the picture and looks horrid, as pretty much most retro console do on it.

I know what you mean, I actually have a PC in the living room but it's a bit of a hassle hooking up I thought it'd be a nice easy option.

Yeah but with about 500 games instead of the 4000 or so on the Massive install, that also includes things like Dragons Lair which i'm guessing take up lots of space.

That sounds like a bargain! Was really just gauging what I can tinker with with my current box but may be enticed into getting one from Beaps in the not too distant future

Since you say it's chipped just pick up an old IDE HDD for about a fiver and you are done (other than downloading a CoinOps torrent)

Sounds like aplan then. Coinops it is. Stil may end up getting a beaps special for the bedroom at some point tho.
