[ukvac] Xbox Mame Cabinet
Okay, I'm really thinking of getting an old Arcade Cab and giving it
a new lease of life by sticking a Modded Xbox in it with Mame.

However, some certain questions do still puzzle me, if anyone can
help I would be greatly appreciative. (My knowledge of Arcade Cabs &
XBox's is very limited so please have patience with me).

What is the connection for the a standard Arcade Monitor, would a PAL
Xbox even work with one if wired properly (frequencies, etc.)?

Wiring the joystick & buttons to the Xbox (I've got no idea how this
could be achieved)?

Any other information would be of great help.

Kindest Regards,

Crimson Phoenix

Not the best of places to be asking those kind of questions!!

The only way to breath a new lease of life into an old arcade cab around
here is to fix it up and restore it as new as it was originally.

Any other methods are likely to require flame retardent suits around
here. ESPECIALLY if the machine subsequently end up on ebay for a grand
and a hlaf or so...

Sounds good.

And it is all possible. the monitor will take the Xbox's signal no probs
just use RGB out.

As for the controls, get some 'arcade' xbox controllers and then just bung
em on the control panel, all neatly tied up of course under the wood.

Just need to find a cab now! maybe a nice Starwars, robotron, centipede or
tron will be a good donor. just throw out all the guts for the dustman...

good luck!!

surley the freq output on the xbox wont drive an arcade monitor, as a psx,
gc, dreamcast etc all cannot display on an arcade monitor without amps.

First step would be to see if you can get MAME (preferably AdvMAME) running
on it via standard TV. I have no idea how you get standard desktop PC apps
running on one, but I'm sure someone has a webpage all about it by now.

You might try asking this lot:
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/advancemame-users - they're
pretty knowledgeable about getting MAME onto a variety of PC setups.

the other way to go is get a cheapo 3rd party controller - crack it open
and solder arcade controllers direct to the various button pads?
it doesn't have analogue buttons like the ps2 does it?
