I am thinking of treating myself to an Xbox one.
I have a Xbox 360 at the moment and play cod and racing games a bit.

Is the Xbox one much of an improvement from the 360? I don't play DVDs it use it for the net.

I can't see much difference in the graphics or I am just being an idiot?
My mate has just bought one so I an no longer play online with him as he refuses to switch in his 360 know!!

Cheers,

There is more of a difference than you think graphics wise, having gone nextgen (and sold it

) but mostly being a high end PC gamer, going back to the 360 and playing Destiny the 2 most apparent things I notice are framerate (lack off, though nextgen is stuck at 30 most of the time) and how it now feels to look like a PSOne game with the jaggies.

The Xbone with 2 games for £300 (Forza5 & COD:AW) isn't a bad deal atm, but the PS4 does seem to have the better exclusive titles and a bit more power which does show in quite a few games (the 1080p argument).

Ok, so has the Xbox one got a better frame rate? I want to stay with Xbox as I used to be so y but not anymore.
I have been looking all morning for the best package deals and the one you mention seems to be the best.

Looked on eBay and stupid people are bidding more on their for new than you can buy in the shops!!!

Do you know if their are any plans to be able to play Xbox 360 games on te Xbox one as I have loads of them.
I am sure at the moment you can't, so would it need some sort of emulator tone able to play them on the newer one?

As you can tell I am not clued up on these things.
I just play cod and when the nex one comes out remove the disc and put the next one in.

Erm I actually wouldn't claim it has a better framerate, most games for it are 30fps, some fail to hit it too(earlier titles like DR3), a few are 60fps but both camps went with cheaper midrange PC parts and there isn't the leap like with previous generations.

Ebay is pointless for consoles atm yeah.

I doubt it, unless they do streaming like the PS4.

If just playing COD it will look better and they always aim for 60fps with them, but then again from my point of view you are spending 300 quid to play the same sh*tfest game as the last one!

Nextgen is leaps and bounds above 360 / PS3. I personally wouldn't be too concerned about the frame rates but then I'm not generally an FPS gamer, more of an MMORPG gamer (so spend most of my time on the PC and leave the consoles to the Mrs.)

Something to consider which has really drawn up a negative to the consoles mind.

PS4 has been offline pretty much continually since Xmas day and Xbox as well, although Xbox was back online quite some time before PS4. Even last night the Mrs was trying to play on the PS4 and it wouldn't even display the desktop properly.

During all of this reports were coming in that PS3 (don't know about 360) was largely unaffected.

So point is, next gen is far, far more reliant on the online servers. Even for games that have offline modes. Bear that in mind. A lot of people have bought sons / daughters / relative next gen consoles for Xmas and have yet to be able to use them. It's the future sadly but it needs to be considered.

I have both Xbox One and PS4 and they are amazing compared to the previous gens

Only annoying thing at the moment are the idiots who are outing the Xbox live and Playstaion Network

The hackers need to be found and thrown in prison for 10+ years. And not some wussy open prison either. People might start to take this kind of activity seriously then. At the moment it's a case of have a chuckle at what the script kiddies can do. This IMO goes way beyond that, it is going to cost Sony & to a lesser extent MS millions, either directly or indirectly.

What's going to swing it (for me) is whether Sony decide to put hand in pocket and give the PS4 native DLNA compatibility (the Xbox One already has this).
No way in Hell I'm trading "up" from a PS3 which can play movies & music stored on my DLNA NAS drive, for a PS4 which cannot!

I am struggling to find a game on either PS4 or XBOX ONE that I actually want to play badly enough to upgrade.

Currently have an XBox 360 hooked to my big TV in the living room which the only games I play are SSX Blur and Guitar Hero/DJ Hero.

It seems every time I turn the console on I have to sit through a mind-bendingly boring firmware update which on my broadband takes anything up to an hour at which point i've lost interest.

Plus the sheer amount of DLC now needed.

I'm down at Carol's for xmas/new year and her son has an XBox360 with only a 20gb HDD on it, he plays Ghosts, GTA V and a few others and got Destiny for xmas - he had to lose the GTA V content as Destiny needed a long copy process of the disk to the drive followed by a long download before he could play it - the nag factor of "is it done yet, is it done yet, can I check if its done yet" while we were trying to watch the Top Gear special last night was enough for him to get banned for a day from it.

The hacking of PSN and XBL over xmas day upset a lot of kids because they couldn't play a lot of new games which demand online service to use them.

Its all over commercialised now, buy your XBox One, pay for your online subscription, buy your disk, buy your online content and then some games "require" you to buy certain content or you can't pass certain levels - we all hated iOS "freemium" games for this buy the next level for 69p bit and slag Apple off for allowing it etc but seems we're relatively ambivalent to take the hosing from M$ and Sony.

Just my 2p but these modern gen consoles just aren't inspiring me to buy them so my vote would be "nope, not worth the marketing hype" save your money and buy the next decent cab on your list.

Get the Xbox one pal, ignore frame rates and so on, if that's important then you want a PS4 but I don't care eitherway so I own both. There is a huge gap in what COD: AW looks like on the 360 compared to the X0.

A chunk of this is why I PC game, yeah the hardware may be more expensive, but over time with the cheaper game costs and less hassle it soon becomes a more economic platform, plus it plays MAME

I currently play relatively obscure japanese games on my PS3 (Minna no Golf, Project Diva, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax), and still play Forza 4 on my 360. XBone only has Forza 5, and PS4 currently has nothing I want to play, so if I'm going to dump £300 into a single game (i.e. Forza 5), I'd rather do it with a cave PCB.
Given what's on the horizon, I'll probably go for PS4, but that's a long way off yet.

I'm considering buying a PS3. It's a *new* console for me. I have £150 Tesco voucher from work, so when they come down a bit more on price, I'll be getting one for 'free'

I've never had a blu ray player and this is one of the best factors for me. I may also buy a few cheap indie games from their on line service (if it still works) Oh, and of course Super SF4, as I've never played it and I like SF4. I'm not keen on firmware updates though. My Cosmic Alien wall mount doesn't have those...

when xbox changed to 360 and ps2 - ps3 there were vast improvements easily noticeable to the average gamer.

For me neither of the next gen consoles show enough improvement for me to invest hundreds of pounds and leave my old faithful ps3 behind.

Both the 360 and PS3 had bags of potential left. Look at early games compared to GTAV for instance.
