Finally got round to fitting my XStation in my original (bought in '96) PS1. The laser was on the blink so was a perfect candidate for modification.
The fitting of the mod was reasonably straightforward - the longest part of the job was copying the disc images to the micro SD card! One of my main motivations for this was because I wanted to play Harmful Park - a ridiculously rare and expensive game that I would have had no chance of acquiring otherwise.

Honestly, the pin lifting was the easiest part. I just used a needle to lift the leg and used my narrowest tip to heat the pad. I struggled with two points on the QSB, namely where you have to solder on to a couple of resistors.
There's not much room to get the tip of the iron and the solder between the board and resistor to get a great joint. Thankfully it worked out but I'm not overly happy with the "finish" on those bits.

Yeah that one looks difficult , I've successfully modded a few things in the past but ive also successfully messed a few things up too, just recently messed a DC bios swap up as a couple of solder pads lifted when I was soldering tge new one on, so easily done.
