Growing up there were lots of amazing machines, videos, or none videos that I would love to buy for my little collection.
Some of which I have no idea what there even called to search for never mind finding them. Such as a certain brand of gum ball machine or that arcade cabinet I first played Golden Axe on with that cool artwork that I can't seem to find online.

After actively collecting arcade machines for nearly two decades there are still machines that elude me, am I on my own? What are your machines that you'd like that never come up for sale?

Mine are but not limited to:

Sonic Blast man
Arm Champs II
Who Shot Johnny Rock? 33" Atari Ireland Cabinet
Diablo Brothers

Not one I would want to own, but the local bowling alley had a full motion simulator machine playing wipeout, very little info online about what it was.

Ridge Racer with a proper Mazda MX5 that you sat in. They had one in Meadowhall Sheffield back in the 90's
Well, what's left of the blackpool unit was saved, so maybe one day it'll rise again.

My brother and I would like to dump the ROMs for the Ridge Racer triple-screen sit-down and Round-up-5 triple-screen. We get within touching distance of machines/boardsets, but then things never work out.
Of course, if Vertexer or Cyber Sterra turn up, that'd be nice too.

I'm ok for boards to own and play - got all I really want, so it's just the odd nice-to-have now. I'm sometimes tempted to change my Naomi DLX sit-down base unit to a Megalo 50, but not sure what it achieves, so resisting temptation 😬

Would love to have another go on Maze of the Kings. It‘s a machine that I’ve never seen for sale since I’ve been a member of this forum.

If space and effort wasn't an issue it's going to be bigger machines,

House of the dead 2 sit in deluxe, I remember walking out of an arcade as a big delivery arrived, stuck around to see some parts and that it was hotd2, which blew me away. Stuck around nearby for a solid 3 hours waiting for them to piece it together and test it out, first person to play it!

Virtual On, a big chunky 2 player versus cabinet, way better than you'd give it credit for, played it absolutely tons

daytona usa! Not too unusual to see but just way too big. 4 player even better.

Another one I'll throw in because I remember it being great fun, it was a lightgun game with a 3d detector built around the cabinet. So if you physically ducked, the character would duck, if you leaned left, character leaned left. Police 911 (had to look that up!). I'd love a go of that again, never seen one for sale.

Always wanted a Shoot away, Used to have one in an arcade i frequented as a kid. I've never realistically had the space for something like that but always dreamt of owning one. I think the only other one i've ever seen since then was in one of the videos of Alpha 1's storage lockups/collection. Sure i remember spying one. Fun game with fond memories

Although these days I prefer candies, I would love to own a Sega Spikeout upright cabinet. From what I understand these were manufactured by Sega in the UK (which it says on the manual) for model 2 and 3 hardware. Having checked over a Virtua Fighter 2 cabinet last year I know they are built like a tank and are just as heavy.

I feel like i'm always banging on about Spikeout, but it's it's pure Sega / AM2 and a last hurrah for the model 3. Also it's remained un-ported and under appreciated since it came out in 1998. It took me a while to find a picture of a Sega cab with the Spikeout artwork, control panel and marquee - exactly the style my friends and I played on. I put a small fortune into this game, it was hard as nails but great fun.

As you can see It's being stolen by a German man. I wonder why he didn't turn it off before moving it...

If I had the space I'd love to make a moving cab for Wipeout, one like F-Zero would do

Wipeout XL Voyager F5000

Yeah that's the one, that video and a couple of pics are about the only evidence it ever existed, perhaps it was quite rare and one of only a handful made, I do know it was pc based, as the attendant had to open it up once when it swallowed my change, would love to see some pics/video of the interior.

We have some similar tastes. I only recently acquired Arm Champs 2 and Captain Zodiac (another Taito puncher).

My unicorns are:
Galaxy Force 2
R360 - I missed a very cheap one a few years ago and I always kick myself about it.

There used to be a fruit machine I always played .think it was called the coppa lot .it was played on a monitor with a blue background ,the nudges were done by a wee man on screen ,using a hammer .
The reels were done out on the side of the screen ,because you couldn’t look down the reels for nudges .
They were everywhere over here ,I’ve never ever saw one forsale .
I wasted so much money on fruit machines when I should have only been playing the cabs in those days .They were just so addictive .Theres a few old fruit machines I’d like ,but they seem harder to come by than and super expensive.
I’m kind of done with arcade cabs at the minute ,I think I own or have owned everything I’ve wanted
Maybe a space harrier deluxe is missing from my all time want list ,but the thought of the price ,the maintenance etc .i hope I never do have the chance to own one .

I would empty out my lounge for a Mad Dog McCree. That game is funny.

Samba De Amigo, also 😍

I second that , One of my favs of all time. The first time I saw and played it on it was on holiday to Norfolk Broads in 1990, I was so bamboozled by the realness and overall play it blew my mind. I remember only being able to afford to play that once and no goes on anything else as had no money !! Oh it was the big one with the huge screen as well.

I ran across the road after a girl and nearly got hit by a car on that same day and it was REALY close , I first spotted her in that same arcade !! Always remember ' Hadaway - what is love ' was the big track at the time as well !! Oh crumbs if I could go back !

There is NO price on memories is there ?

Dave.

This thread got me thinking and possibly the Mad Dog McCree comment affected my mindset, but I remember the game without an actual screen etc and it was a cowboy in behind saloon doors and it shouted DRAW, and if you weren't quick enough (or every time) it would raise its arm and shoot you with a water pistol. Probably early 80s though. Mad Dog, Time Traveler and Dragons Lair blew my mind back in my youth as I didnt understand how they worked. Would happilly own any of them for nostalgia sake now but definitely eluded me as they will be funny money or irrepairable now.
