Hello all,

I've loved video games since the early 80's.

I fell in love with arcades when I first eyed and begged my dad for a 10p to put into Space Invaders when on a holiday to Littlesea (near Weymouth) around 81/82 when I would be about 7 or 8. From that point on, even now as a man in his early 50s, if I see an arcade I have to do a walk around taking excited mental notes of games I want to play.

Being a Bristolian the best spots for arcades during holidays were Weymouth and Butlins at Minehead. But outside of holidays, during the 80s and 90s, Weston-Super-Mare was a excellent for arcades with Mr B's being my favourite. It was only an hour on the bus from Bristol bus station.

Nowadays I'm not a collector of cabs but I am a player mainly through emulation and releases on Switch/PC and Playstation.

I have been listening to the Ten Pence Arcade podcast for, checks notes and sits down, 10 years and I attempt to enter the months game score challenge.

I finally created a account here because I am going to attend the 2025 meet at Timewarp Arcade in Bridgewater in November. It would be rude not to attend what it only being 40 minutes down the M5.

Cheers

Stacey

Welcome. Mr B's was quite the place! You must have frequented Mad Harry's surely?
Oh yes, I loved that place. I must have started going there in 86. But remember one fateful Saturday sometime in 87 when nestled between the 720 and another machine was the game that sparked a life long love of brawlers - Double Dragon.

I also frequented The Golden Nugget on Stokes Croft. it always had a good selection of the latest cabs, many in Goliaths.

Evening Stacy, and welcome. 'Bout time you got yourself signed up. Dunno if you've seen it yet, but Stokers has been blogging about the old Bristol arcades.
this place feels like it is organically growing and a great rate right now, lovely to see people who maybe wouldn't normally sign up to stuff like this feel comfortable enough to join

most of us are nice...honestly
