[ukvac] Colour vector (star wars) parts id needed

Hi Guys, I have been inside the star wars and had a good visual inspection and noticed some burnt components on the deflection board, i have been reading some good repair guides but not having the manual yet for the monitor i cant identify some of the parts, Q100, mps-A56 is split open, R100 burnt beyond recognition, D104 is reading shorted, R102 is slightly toasted as is R103, from what i have read these are common failures on this board could someone help me with identifying suitable replacements which i can order myself, hopefully this is all that is wrong with the machine unless something more sinister has caused this burn up.

thanks

Ronnie

Ronnie,

R100 and R101 burning/smoking is quite common indeed!
What monitor do you have - WG or Ampliphone?
Sounds like the WG though.
Does it have "P314" on the top-left edge of the board?

Anyway, Q100 and Q101 should be checked and replaced with the bigger
and tougher "T202" package type(has a small heat-sync built in with
a screw hole). Also check the deflection power transistors on the
chassis which should each have a plastic washer.

I'll email you some repair guides just in case.

Anyway, here's a link to a pdf manual site:-

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Dave.

Ronnie,

I'd recommend one of Bob Roberts cap kits, I had a dead monitor when I
got my upright, fitted the kit and breathed life into the beastie.

Also replaces some of the HV components for newer, better rated ones and
also the deflection trannies.

Hi Dave,

yes its WG with P314 printed on the board, it has 6 transistors on the chassis, not sure which are the deflection ones.

thanks

Hi Dave, thanks, thats a great help. one guide i looked at said to use for Q101 nte159 and Q100 nte287, what wattage resistors should I use,

thanks

Ronie,

Here's the values from my board:-
R100, R100 - 15 Ohms
R102, R103 - 330 Ohms

Values of the transistors(bigger T202 type)
Q100 - 7824CT/QJG323
Q101 - 7924CT/QQ8749

Also here's a very handy resistor calc:-

Cheers,
Dave.

I fitted one of those LV2000 'upgrades' to my quadrascan monitors low
voltage regulator circuit. This is supposed to make it more reliable.

Check the chassis mounted transistors for short circuits, and replace..
there are modern off the shelf equivalents for these , but not got the
info to hand at the moment. 1 Pair is used for the psu, 1 pair each
for the x and y axis.

Cheers, Colin
