it's quite a lot of Trauma on the body with all that going on and the pain suppression on top it's going to take some time to get back to normal but worst over so onwards and upwards and back to the Arcades :)

Well what’s crazy week. Seemed to be doing ok and was given the green light to go home last Weds. After about 28 days in hospital I was overjoyed, saw my daughter for the first time in weeks and was so happy, but when I got home I immediately didn’t feel right, spiked temp and was readmitted on the Friday with some kind of infection and a gaping hole in my chest wound that had formed. 😬
Certainly not something I need. I’ve been on an IV antibiotic drip 4x a day since Friday and waiting on some results to come back, but it’s knocked me for six again. No real clarity on how long I’ll be in here for yet but I hope not too long as I just want to get home and start to recover. As great as the care is here, and definitely the right place, it’s soul destroying and feels like Im losing my marbles. I think it’s day 32 of being in hospital now and I’m just thankful that I’ve got some decent noise cancelling headphones!!

Ah man, that's not what we want to hear
My brother was in hospital for quite a long stint after breaking his ankle earlier this year, in for a good while before the operation, still has swelling and can't work some weeks 8 months on, his noise cancelling headphones were used quite a lot too while in there, his missus probably needed them when he was back home
I've never even been in Hospital over night so but can't imagine I'd find it fun unless there was a really nice nurse lol
Hope they get things sorted fast for you 🫰

Sorry to hear that John, only problem with hospitals, full of germs. They put a geezer next to me with one of those colostomy bag things that needed nurses to empty regularly into buckets, great I got open wounds healing. I'm a realist in that if you can smell it then it's already in your body to some degree ugh.
I hope the setbacks not too long buddy, takes a bit longer for things to knit back together once you're past 33, but a youngster like yourself it shouldn't be too much longer, just no big open arm hugs for a little while and laughing shouldn't be an issue by the sounds of it. Get on some of those YouTube restoration or repair videos you can lose a few sanity saving hours there.

Finally made it home for the second and hopefully final time! Infection seems under control and I’m Feeling better than I did a week and a half ago. Lots of rest and walking for me now and watching a lot of arcade and monitor restoration vids on YouTube!

Great to hear mate ! Rest up and make the most of people doing things for you.

Dave.

Good ….. my ankle , vein donor site, took a few weeks to fully heal as I said but overall aside from a bit of breathlessness I feel and act just as I ever did before the operation … still on several tablets however just to maintain things?

You should be able to cough , sneeze and especially laugh with greater ease very soon .

Happy days John, hope those videos kept you sane, you're a bit young but some led zeppelin or beatles tunes in the background always helped me out. Something in the sound is relaxing whether you like them or not.
Heal up, enjoy being waited on, get a little bell to ring when you need something haha.
You will reach a point where you'll think you're ok to do stuff, when you get there take my advice and give it another week from there. Trust me our bodies and minds are naturally over optimistic due to our inbuilt survival instincts.
Chin up buddy and what's the tablet situation ? Is it more than 12 a day ?

Quite true a few older tunes are relaxing and pass the time too … break out the vinyl if you have any? Tho I tunes or Alexa is less effort. Or just a music channel on tv ?

Tablets … I only take a few now , tho I had a terrible tasting potassium thing for a couple of weeks and another post op one for a month and extra blood thinner Clopidogrel for a year ( now they seem to prefer these to Aspirin and they are cheaper ) but I am off those .

Now and for last 3 years I have a stomach lining protector Lansoprazole a beta blocker Bisoprolol and an Aspirin blood thinner which would cause a likely stomach ulcer if I didn’t take the lining protector ? So are they that critical ? But every morning

Then at night a Ramipril to control high blood pressure and a couple of smaller sized Atorvastatins to lower the chance of cholesterol build up in the veins it’s a max of 80mg but I opted for 2x 40mg as I am not a horse the 40 are big enough

Like most folk I take an odd soluble Paracetamol for any aches or cold symptoms but not in any quantity sometimes one or two a week ….

Some illnesses demand much higher tablet dependency so it’s not too bad post op . May be different for you however if you have infection ?

Been thinking of you! Happy to read that you're feeling a bit better. That must have been a scary experience, you are one of the brave ones. <3 ASMR videos are great, been watching soap cube cutting, ducks on the river, and jewellery making vids recently (along with my celluloid fuelled obsession, lol!).

Rest up and feel better soon. :)
