Hi everyone!
I've been a gamer since 1991 when I got a Master System for Christmas, and some decades later I'm still at this. I've long had a fondness for the arcade and was able to complete an ambition in getting a Neo-Geo AES some years back and a selection of its finest fighting games; but I've longed to get a JAMMA cabinet.
Looking forward to settling in and joining the community here!

Warm welcome to the forum from neighbouring Bedfordshire !
Think you might have found your spiritual home here, especially if you are looking to add a Jamma cabinet (or 2 cough! …)
Big fan of AES also .

Welcome - great first console! Check out Frontier Force for the Master System if you haven't already. Excellent new homebrew game - and it won't set you back the £24.99 we were paying for new games then (approximately one gazillion pounds in today's money!).

A Sega for Christmas, wonderful.
I got an important Japanese Megadrive with Strider for Christmas 1990 (Had to sell my Master System with Outrun and Double Dragon to pay towards it!) Aah memories. Well done on the Neo Geo, amazing console. I'm newish here too, seems like a great bunch of guys on ere. ✌️

Welcome. I quite agree, you can't beat getting a console for Christmas (especially a Sega console) I got my Megadrive for Christmas in 1991 with Sonic and Altered Beast. I also remember having to wait 3 weeks before Streets of Rage was back in stock

Seems like a patten here, I also loved arcades and eventually got a Neo geo AES as it was the mythical wonder-console when I was a kid. Would be interested to hear some of your arcade favourites.

3 weeks for Streets of Rage! Oh No! Have you seen the price of Streets of Rage 2 on the Master System now!
Yes your right, the Neo Geo was mythical, good description. I used to look at the ads in Mean Machine magazine with the prices of Neo Geo stuff and was wanting so bad.
My favourite era of arcade is late 80s Double Dragon, Shinobi, Robocop, Salamander etc. This was an exciting time when the big arcades had the latest games next to earlier classics like Asteroids, Pacman, etc and even some more ancient electromechanical machines dotted about. Simply magical time. ✨️

Yes indeed, my dad took me to Toys R' Us at least twice to look for it - both times it had the red 'Out of stock' sticker on it. I was mortified!

History nearly repeated itself a few years later when my Dad took me into Woolworths to get my Christmas present in 1996 - A Nintendo 64. This time with Goldeneye and Turok, the woman behind the till couldn't find the Goldeneye cart. We were about to give up and she found it in the VHS tapes or something..

Some good game choices there - especially Shinobi. I was crazy about Chase HQ, Prisoners of War and Final Fight (amongst others)
