Many thanks - that’s very good to know. So I have a full set of boards, but the game’s been changed? My plan is to get it working as-is (may have bitten off more than I can chew!) then consider if it can be returned to original game/spec. Will post a repair log as I go!
Thanks for all the help. This week I had a “duh!” moment. I thought the bootleg was the daughter board and downloaded the circuit diagrams for Space Invaders, but couldn’t match them with my board at all. Then, I realised the whole board might be Galaxian do downloaded those diagrams and, aside from my diagram showing a single board, it’s a match! Even the grid labelling in my board matches, just it’s split with 2 50-way ribbon cables joining them up. Aaannnnnddd now I understand why there’s no mounting frame - the boards are bigger - almost too big to get in the cabinet! So nowI think I’m restoring a Galaxian hack of a SI cocktail! Will switch to a new thread to record my progress. Hazmat suit on! Wish me luck! The PCB has been changed but should be easy enough to change back. Looks like the joysticks are now possibly four way rather than two way as well.
Wow, well spotted! They are! Given that I now realise I have a Galaxian pcb set and 4-way joysticks, I think my best aim (for now at least) is to restore it to Galaxians … if possible! The PCB has been changed but should be easy enough to change back. Galaxian is only 2-way as well, so no idea why you have 4-ways.Wow, well spotted! They are! Given that I now realise I have a Galaxian pcb set and 4-way joysticks, I think my best aim (for now at least) is to restore it to Galaxians … if possible!
Hmmm. Makes me wonder whether the daughter board might mod Galaxian to something else…Galaxian is only 2-way as well, so no idea why you have 4-ways.
It will be a four way Galaxian hardware based game.Hmmm. Makes me wonder whether the daughter board might mod Galaxian to something else…
