Hmm. Why don't Namco make an effort and dig out the ROMs for the undumped triple-screen sit-down version, rather than giving people a 1:1 rework of what you already get in MAME.

It is not a VR game. No headset. I still own my original NTSC-J PS1 version from 1994. I only bought a Switch 2 for this game. I don’t know about wheel support though. I’ll see what I can find out.
will they implemente wheel ffb support though ?

I know people like playing this with a pad or the negcon jogcon what ever ..

As it’s the arcade ver lets hope wheel support is standerd.

The original arcade game didn't have FFB, did it? Steering wheel support would be cool though. Although I could play it that way on MAME any day if I could be arsed to set my steering wheel up again. Triple screen ROM would be icing on the cake. It's got to surface at some point, hasn't it? ;)

Well that tech shopping mall in Thailand has it, but they've not replied to my e-mails and it's a bit of a hike to just drop-by.

What I'm not getting is that this is just going to be emulation with some hacks. Just like the 1-up version
They're not going to port it or rework it in any way, are they? (like those brilliant M2 ports of stuff like Galaxy Force 2).
Happy to be corrected, if it brings something new to the table.

It’s a straight port of the original with a Caravan Mode. This is largely the same thing that they do with every release. I’m not sure why it’s newly labelled as Arcade Archives 2, but there you go.

What's happening with your MAME rave racer / namco network code John? I see you collaborated with SailorSat and it's now an official git pull request but is stuck in limbo for months now.

I'm still using your JBMAME in my cab

Also nobody has dumped the triple screen version? wow that sure would be the cherry on top for that git pull request if it got included!

Yeah, that's me.
I got the whole lot working in the end, for what it was worth.

It's what you see really. That's why I was always wary of the final step of putting the code into MAME - it looks like the sort of code review you'd dread at work, so screw that for a fun hobby. To be fair, I'd have never got it all working 100% for the multiplayer linkup as it needed changes to the underlying comms code in MAME and that's not something I understand (or have any interest in, being honest), so it was a relief when Sailorsat took it and got it so much better.
My name's still in the source code, should it ever make it into MAME.
I'll ping that shopping mall in Thailand again about the triple-screen they've got.
