Ps. how many choccy digestives did it take to make that? ;)
😜😂. The pack just splt open so they will be stale in the morning so
I gobbled about 6 in a row..

Angle is ok I think it could be comfy
Won’t know until finished ..
I was going for four 2p 4 buttons
But as I’m a Street fighter fan ..
I just went for 6b 2p
I think I have just enough room .
This project was shelved like 2 years ago but I’m finally getting over 2 house moves and two babies!
And this little cab project is where I’m picking up from..
Monitor is the real head ache ..
Getting a crt in it . I have all the Jamma
Wiring ready to go ..
So just monitor to sort , then graphics ..

Super cool - you managed to go right over that annoying central section! Looks spot on, if a bit angled?
I like the jaleco pony’s angles ..
This cab animal kieser is very bolt upright …. But with this project I’m trying to inject some of the angles from the jaleco pony’s angles .
So it feels great so far resting my hands on the panel .. won’t know until some play testing gets under way. 🤞
I want to angle the screen if I can.
Cut screen bezel to open it up for larger crt screen and angle screen like pony’s.
Then finish with smoked glass.. that’s the planIMG_2910.jpeg

This is not a jaleco pony cabinet but a Capcom status 25

Today I got hair drier on the vynil overlays some dings hear and there

But overall I’m happy with the paint underneath 😊IMG_3832.jpegIMG_3835.jpegIMG_3833.jpeg

Im just stuck now
On how I’m going to go forward with the monitor 🧐.
I want crt ..
And I want to be able to tate monitor - manually will be ok will be light !
Prob is the dam monitor surround is
In landscape wide screen 5;4 or worse ?

monitor shroud will be hinged like the control pannel ,, aka ok baby , pony etc. egret etc..
To flip monitor I hope! IMG_3838.jpegIMG_3837.jpeg

Will make a fresh loom
Wire it for jamma
And power for jvs Naomi also

Little bit of progress
Managed to squeeez a 19” in
But it will need custom brackets ..
IMG_3944.jpegIMG_3947.jpeg
Monitor surround ..
I can’t get on with it ..for a couple of reasons . 1. It’s a very small viewing window . 2. it’s not going to work fpr tate mode.
It Would be nice to be able to rotate the monitor. :)

So I have made provisions to copy the capcom cute smoked monitor surround.
IMG_3949.jpeg
I’m going to have a go at making one myself . Just to see how it goes . Sort of prof of concept
Then I will see if I can get a plastics specialist to make one.
possibly a header for stereo speakers also.

So that’s the next step and also working on how to Mount this monitor or poss get a 17 inch

First shot at bending Perspex..
Went ok.
But I’m just stuck with how to go forward .. because I don’t know if I’m
Using a 19” or go for a small 17” ?

Possibly fabricate a new header with 2 speakers ..

Possibly I can modify the original bezel
And use it under the Perspex or use q black monitor surround. 🧐IMG_4047.jpeg

A bit of a puzzle definitely. Perspex looks good though. Problem with it though is you can see all the cab crimes inside!
To my mind the side lit zigag elements under the perspex are just too much. It should all be black and pretty much invisible other than the glowing monitor under ideally smoked perspex.

Remove the small box metal sections
Thst hold monitor and make my own mounts ..
.. get a glass art work monitor surround also as well as black out

Sorry to hijack this, I’ve just finished two animal kaiser conversions, went a slightly different route from you and kept the panel mostly as stock.

I designed some art that meant the original panel area could be used but it was necessary to remove some of the plastic, if you look at the art for the stick, I cut octagonal pieces on the left and right of the individual stick panels so it now fits 24mm Sanwa buttons and JLF sticks.

I’ve got two currently but I’m in the process of acquiring 2 more cabs, currently have an MVS 4 slot running in one - I’ve designed a move strip that will include the game swap button but again I’ll need to drill to accommodate the buttons.

I’ve got to do some work on wiring a card reader but I’ve installed panels in the card vend sections that allow for relevant memory cards to be used (mvs for mvs and Naomi on the other), finally I’ve done a sticker to replace the scan card sticker which says p1/p2.

If you still have the acrylic wings that surround the card scan area from your panel @Retroman839, I’ll take them off you! I cut them down on my first panel as I figured it would be uncomfortable to play but it’s not awful so I’d like to put them back in - if not I’ll get some made.

Again, sorry to hijack

Oh, PS, the custom art was in part designed to accent the existing stickers on the cab (the warning stickers on the side and back) as well as taking direct inspiration from the Namco Exceleena

Yeah, you’ve done basically the only thing you can to accommodate 6 buttons in that panel.
Same with the monitor - it’s such a tight area!

I ended up using scalers and vga panel monitors as per the Namco refurbs.
It’s not ideal but it works, 31hz running natively for the Naomi and an irken scaler for the MVS.

I have two old PC crt’s that will work for the next two - I have two compaq monitors capable of low res images via VGA so I’m feeling confident about them dropping in but I’ve not looked at the monitor frames yet

And again, if you have those fins - I WANT THEM! Hah
