Mate you sound exactly like I was.....almost 15 stone, smoked 20 a day, drinking beers 5 days of 7, ate junk food only and played video games
smiley36.gif

Stopped smoking, jacked in the beer, sorted out the diet and lost 4 stone....was running 40 miles a week until work took my life recently but still run when I can.

Keep going, you will be well happy with yourself and once you get to your target weight. Keep us posted!

Brilliant!

Yeah definitely keep going Ian,

Â?

I stopped in 1997.....best move I ever made

Â?

I was speaking to a mate the other day and he mentioned the price of smokes...didn't realise how much they'd gone up?! £7 - 8.00 for 20? WTF!?

That's exactly what I thought recently.
I packed up in 1999 and seriously can't believe if you smoke 20 a day it'll be £3000 annually

The price of 20 cigs is mental now. I used to always go for the Marlborough Lights, those seem to be the most expensive now at 8-9 quid a pop
smiley3.gif
Started on the old Royals as there were 24 in a pack handy back in the college days
smiley36.gif

You're doing great Chapster, if you manage to keep the weight off too then you've done a better job than me, think I've gained 2 stone since I stopped in Jan. Started my exercise regime last week though so should put a stop to any more!

Thanks to quietly taking inspiration from the various quitting smoking threads that have been about on J+ and here this year I've managed to go without a fag since February. Not a single Cigarette
smiley4.gif
.

That said, I'm almost permanently sucking on an E-Cig
smiley36.gif
. But hey, I don't smell (which I kinda miss if I'm honest) and it's gotta be better for me than actual cigarettes, right?! One day I'll kick the E-Cigs too, but not yet

Well done mate, I just didn't see the point in the E-cigs TBH, I know some folk you smoke more of them than the did normal fags

I do

. But I'm not spending any more money than I was, so it's all right for now. It's still a vice I know, but I'll kick it sooner or later.

I gave up (finally, for the absolute last time) a while back too. 20 Marlboro Lights a day for too many years. I'd previously stopped using patches for NRT but this time I really didn't want to smoke any more so I just quit smoking one morning.

I bought a box of nicorette lozenges and thought I'd see how well it went. There were 20 lozenges in the box, I used about 15 over the course of 2-3 weeks and that was it. No mad cravings, no problem wanting a fag when I was out drinking around smokers, nada.

I think I'd just decided I didn't want to any longer. I do a lot of cycling and other healthy things now so I'm pretty sure that contributed too.

Good work fellow quitters!

Smoking - whichever you do, smoke, or not smoke - either way you've got to embrace it and love it. Revel in the fact that you don't smoke, love it for what it is. Conversely I love smoking fags and have zero intention of ever giving up. I can't imagine smoking but being miserable and moaning about it. Life's just too short (a very real probability).
