i dont think we will break away. most voters i think preferred what alex has been doing. we still get free prescriptions, bus passes and a lot more that you guys down south dont get. we also have more police than before. all we want is the right to run our own country. its a fact that we as a nation have been paying in to an english pot. without the uk we dont have the same clout. but we as a nation dont have the same problems as the english. so we need different things. for too long the big chiefs down south have used scotland as a guinea pig. i still remember the poll tax busters
smiley20.gif
they would show up in buses when the sheriffs officers showed up at peoples houses. and why did we have a smoking ban a year before england ??? and why the hell can people in london get away with smoking dope and we cant
smiley21.gif
although not anti english i am defo a nationalist. we are a multi cultural nation. we are more relaxed in our views on some things that the peeps daan saaff are not. it simply cannot be fair that as 1 of the biggest oil producing countries in europe, we are paying some of the biggest prices at the pump. all we want is a fair deal. this has been a momentous night for scotland. i sat and watched the autopsy, so much mud slinging going on. labour are saying that people only voted snp because alex has a cheeky grin. this coming from an english woman, thats why they got humped. how dare she say that i and the rest of the voters only voted for alex because he got more coverage in the media. i voted not because i like him but because of what he has done for scotland. there will of course now be a week of braveheart re-runs. scotland has always been second class, it time to move into first class.

later on this evening i will dig out my kilt, and dust down my pipes. i will then head out to a party where an english flag will be burnt, the flag will of course be wrapped around about 6 englishmen
smiley36.gif
after that we will feast on sheep intestines stuffed full of sheep innards. this will be washed down with whisky and we will all dance the highland fling
smiley36.gif
as the night ends we will all head home to our mud huts.

maybe now we will finally get running water and electricity.

cheers.

aha i thought spamming was like trying to get free advertising or something. so spamming is posting, then adding more, and posting again. i shall keep this in mind. soz for the hassle.

it was because you posted 5 times in a thread with no replies, there is no need to do this when you can simply edit your post to add more information.

Overall majority now.

as a Lancastrian living in Scotland its pretty worrying as as labour lose Scotland it makes it so much easier for the conservatives to keep power in England. still I might be a naturalized Scotsman in the near future

please forgive my ignorance on matters such as this. i am not exactly a computer boffin.

question= what is the problem with doing this ??? does it use up valuable resources etc. i have never had my 4rse kicked for doing this before. so was blissfully unaware that i was spamming. all i was doing was posting results so that anybody who didnt have a scottish tv channel could see events unfold.

grobda are you getting married, or having a new arrival ???

it has now turned into a massive win for the SNP.

cheers.

the post had been reported , I was merely acting on this.

It has nothing to do with disk space or resources, its just unnecessary.

can i ask said member to explain why it was reported. i mean cmon to fock,

was it because i found it easier just to post message as was, or perhaps something more sinistar. im not some mad spammer or indeed a malicious poster. these were posted in the early hours whilst the SNP wiped the floor of scottish politics. i believe i made 4 posts in total, until i fell asleep. im not too clever on all this jiggery pokery. i dont even know half of the initials that people post, i do know some like wtf. surely it could have been left as was. this was history with a time stamp, i was posting as things happened live on stv. i just feel that the editing was a bit ott. again i will apologise for my actions, no malice was meant. but the f**king diddy that reported the thread really could do with getting a grip. i was soooo happy last night, history in the making. i will now finish with the rant, i think i have made my point on post editing.

cheers.

Hi John,

I really wouldn't get too wound up about this. It's just general Internet etiquette that you would normally post any update as an edit to a post unless somebody else has replied in the interim. Otherwise it looks like someone is having a conversation with themselves or using a forum as a blog.

The only exception I can think of is when you post something which turns out to be wrong and you make a new post instead of an edit so anybody reading via email gets to see the correction - the edit wouldn't send a new mail notification but the additional post would.

I'm sure everybody knows that you intended no malice by your actions and there was certainly no malice meant by combining your posts into one. It just kept things looking neat and tidy

Enjoy your celebrations tonight!

tim

ps At the end of the day I'd say it was pretty much a coin-toss as to whether I'd have combined or left the posts alone. It's in Off Topic and the posts were germane, so no harm either way IMO.

pps If you find any other acronyms that you don't know the meaning of, I can recommend www.urbandictionary.com - there's some good rude ones in there too

Hehehe. Well if it's mellowed you out stop complaining you weesack

You do realise that by your SNP wins you've consigned us poor "mainlanders" to probably another 20 years of Tory government right?

I've got to say, I've seen a lot worse moderation about!

Anyway, hopefully all is now cool and you can get back to those "Turkish" fags. Although I suspect the nearest they ever got to a Turk is perhaps in his rented loft???

Hehe. I'll have you know I've lost weight, thank you very much :) Did you like the weesack bit? I went hunting on the net for some Scottish colloquialisms to make you feel more at home!

I'm a long way away from Scotland, but was raised in Birmingham as a good old fashioned Left Winger. I'm now living in the sunny Con/Lib dominated South East, the thought of Scotland losing Labour is worrying. If the SNP remains in power for years to come, it's going to seriously hurt Labour and mean more tories in governance.

I think what the SNP has done is amazing. Real wholesome and true to word politics. I like it. A lot of parties sell the sizzle but not the sausage. The SNP are doing things right and well, all the best to them. But man, I'm looking down a long tunnel of Tory, and it's not a great picture.

I'd move north but I don't like the cold (I know, I'm a pussy southerner nowadays). Maybe we'll sell up and live with the Mrs' Parents in Japan. At least then I can take the boy for weekend drives into Tokyo to go to the Arcades...

we booted the tories out of scotland a while ago. there is still bad feelings towards them even now. too many false promises. the snp has also promised a large amount of apprenticeships for school leavers. its not that we want to break away from the uk we just have different needs from england. it was promised that everyone in scotland would have access to the internet, job almost done. we also look after the old and sick, with better allowances. i think maybe the snp will try for indendence again in the future, but that will cost them votes. although we have our own government, we still need to ask big brother first on most things. it was estimated that in 20 years time scottish bloodlines will be in the minority. i remember listening to an old bigot ranting on about scotland. he said when scotland field an all black team will you still support them, of course i will. colour, class or creed dont come into it for me. i have had irish, welsh, english, black and chinese all watching my back. the world is a much smaller place now. extremists are the biggest threat to world peace. in scotland we are taking on the bigots and winning
smiley20.gif
we are a very tolerant society. i was born in glasgow but i havent stayed there in about 20 years. i have seen breath taking views, and the wonders of nature all on my own doorstep. the only people i feel sorry for are the people who dont see the beauty that scotland has. when i lived just down the road from faslane, i would often stand at the bottom end of the loch in a tshirt as the rain poured down. it cleanses the soul. so yeah i love my country and like most would be willing to die for it. do you remember the attempt to blow up glasgow airport. get intae them was the cry as they kicked the crap out of them
smiley36.gif
quality. i dont want to see too much change in our country, but i do want it to prosper. but hell mend those that would attempt to force change by means of terrorism. im lucky i travel all over scotland and have seen most of it. i have also been based down south. but no matter where i lay my head down, my heart will always be at home in scotland. when i was posted abroad i didnt come home for 2 and a half years. as i sat on the train traveling home we neared glasgow central, i caught site of a glasgow corporation bus. i nearly burst into tears. i was posted to places where it was non english speaking. i missed the scottish tongue so much. all i wanted was a pint of tennents and some banter. the thing is though, my mum told me i had a stupid accent, i had picked up some choice words that i would throw in to conversations. i had become englified yeah. i spent the next couple of years getting my accent back, not a yeah in site
smiley36.gif
these days i can still bamboozle some folks with my glaswegian, but i can also speak english when the situation arises. i love scotland me, but im still british.

cheers.

Hopefully this does result in a Scotland/UK split and damage to Labour support as a result, the last lot were outright evil. I don't even know where to start listing all the horrible things they did, suffice to say they broke the bank again and we live in a surveillance state (except, conveniently, when the met attack innocent passers by).

I was referring to the public finances, which were f**ked up before they had to bail the banks out. Here's just some of their legacy:

*) Took oversight functions away from the Bank of England and gave them to the FSA, which facilitated the banking crisis.
*) Sold half or so of our gold reserves - at rock bottom prices (gold is now at an all time high).
*) Allowed the MOD to go on a spending frenzy it didn't even have budget allocated for.
*) Increased income tax at the base level by way of National Insurance contributions - a cynical way to get past their election pledge of not increasing income tax, and a prime example of 'regressive' measures they accuse other parties of.
*) Abused the PFI system to keep purchasing off the books, and leading to MASSIVE bills and profits for private contractors - example the new Bromley hospital which cost the contractor 118 million to build, but will cost the NHS (and therefore us, the taxpayers) 1.2 billion.
*) Used road transport as a tax cash cow, resulting in increased costs to businesses and a general cost of living increase.

That's just a taster of how absolutely pitiful Labour were, and just /some/ of the financial incompetance. I could be listing bullet points all day if I went near the all the new laws and offences they invented, the surveillance state, a possibly illegal war in Iraq, and the abuse of 'terror' powers handed to the police. They were a disaster for civil liberties and anyone with the temerity to try to earn a living.

And do you know what Brown does now? He makes hundreds of thousands giving speeches at universities, including drawing a £70k salary from a university in Abu Dhabi, and advises on the World Economic Forum, which is scary given all the above points. A busy man you might think? Not so busy that he doesn't hang on as an absent MP drawing a wage from the taxpayer.

If that's the lesser of two evils you must think Maggie Thatcher still hides under peoples beds stealing children. Even the BNP are less evil because at least they don't have the ability to actually cause trouble. With Labour there's always the chance people will vote them into power to wreck the country again (something they historically always do by losing control of spending).
