Good Morning All

Im looking at giving the GroovyMame image a go and i have a Lenovo M90  3244 PC 3.2GHZ With 8gb Ram but it only has onboard VGA, I want to try this in a Sega Astro City will the onboard graphics be ok or should i purchase a PCI/E Graphics card and if so maybe a HD 7450?

Thanks Simon

Hi there. I think it depends on the onboard GPU. One of my MAME PCs has an AMD chipset with integrated GPU - it's an AMD A8 7600 - and that works fine with Groovymame / 15 KHz.

Yep, as Rygar says if you have an Intel CPU and only on board graphics it won't work, you need a compatible ATI/AMD chipset for the low resolutions. Drop me a message if you get stuck or have any questions

I've been messing with the Groovymame build using a HD7450 and it's pretty easy to set up!

I had a few issues using a HD3450 getting the custom resolutions to work.

One thing I'd like to sort out though, I want to set this up for a friend who'll be using a TV. His 4-5 year old son will be playing on it unsupervised so it need it to be plug and play with no screen adjustment reqd etc.

What resolution should I choose so all the games fit on the screen?

Also, when I tested vertical games they seemed to be running in interlaced mode?

Does anyone have any hints and tips for setting Groovymame up for use on a TV?

Cheers.

Hi I see in the thread there is quite a lot of discussion about gfx cards and the document reccomends

Radeon HD7450 1GB PCI-E x16 Low Profile Graphics Card

These are about £20.

I plan to also run some emulators on the pc like a dreamcast emulator. Is there any advantage or recommendation on spending £30/40 on a card or no real benefit. Just wondered what a next recommendation up would be, or if that would just be a waste of money ! I think they do hd7540 low profile in 2gb's as well . As a lot of people in thread seem to have low profile setups thought would ask here.

The 7450 does DX11. 2gb I think is a min so one I can see new so I guess more current is the gt 730

Just unclear if that will be a major benefit over the 7450 , for emulation mame,, dc ps2 , wii etc

Will have a look on google.

Is there a default usb drive letter ?

For scrapping / searching usb for roms ?

I’m trying to add roms to the macrium groovy image .

Instant sheller etc..
Will this stop usb drives being recognised ?
As I exit attract mode search for usb pen drive in my computer and it’s not listed ?
Is this my pc up the spout?

Hi

I built a PC with this image a while ago and it's still fine but I was thinking can I upgrade my motherboard and CPU in future without much hassle ? I'm currently on a Q9550 4GB Ram and eventually would like to upgrade to I7 3770 8GB Ram as I run other Emulators on it and it just can't quite handle Dreamcast / Atomiswave

You might be OK, I can't remember if Windows 7 does a license rearm on new hardware detection, if it asks for a key let me know and I can provide you with one

Another quick question: I am having some trouble with the pi2jamma thingy and a 2 player blast city layout. I have it all hooked up properly and it is working with both a Naomi 2 and PinHP, but for some reason the Pi2Jamma Thingy image wont detect the second player. None of the buttons work, but Up and Right on the joystick swap between Tate/Yoko. I searched the config files, and searched the settings while it was running and couldnt find anything.

Does anyone know how to set up 2 player with it?
