Nasty. I think I've only been the dentist 3 times in 20 years. Good luck, the pain and discomfort is bad enough but having to pay that sort of price is ridiculous.

Just wondering why Dental treatment isn't part of the NHS? If your fingernails falls off, you would get free treatment at A&E, what's the difference if your teeth falls off?

I never got why us working folk are allowed to get hammered by the dentist I need a few things doing myself
But it's gonna cost a lot
You work you have to pay for everything
I put them off for more important stuff like bills and food and the odd arcade machine

A while back I cracked a tooth and I was in intense pain. I booked an appointment at my local dentist and she tried to snap off the cusp but ripped half my tooth out. I lived with that for months due to covids, eventually I got a date to have an operation to remove it. I went under local anesthetic and put up with the surgeon drilling and pulling for what felt like hours.

I'm now contemplating having an implant as the tooth was an upper molar and eating food is not as nice as it was when I did have it. You only get one set of teeth, and once you are missing a few you really realise just how important it is to keep them.

i required a brace as one of my bottom teeth was so out of place it was cutting into the gum above, my dentist told me 4-5k for the brace so i went online and bought clear aligners for £700 and i am now onto my last stage and my teeth are almost perfectly straight- it took 7 months and all in the comfort of my own home

Have to 'TOP' you there Matt.

Been 3 times in over 30 years, and never in last 20. Last time I went was for an abscess in the gum . They tried to mug me for silly money. Promised to go back after the antibiotics but never did.

Not proud of it though. I've got some work that'll definitely need doing at some point.

Do OAPs get any sort on concessions with dentistry?

Home dentistry is the way forward then it seems I allways wondered if I could make my own tooth buy the molds ect
It's all they do when you go there I've already broken two fake ones at £500 each I don't really want to pay for any more

Implants are even more about 2k for 1 tooth unless you go to Latvia or somewhere

good work there as usual gunblade

i would go abroad for my dentistry but procedure could be
done i’n stages here so will just pony up the dough!

story time
my dad had all his teeth shall we say removed with a brick!

as a result he had full false uppers & downers from his 20s
and one of the last things he said to me was look after your teeth..
his party trick was leaving his teeth in his pint at the pub and then smile and laugh..showing his gums off!

also a friend played collage american football usa
no front teeth why smoking meth before the game… “everybody did it “ his words

another friend again usa played ice hockey at school
no front teeth!! why? nope not the puck
on way to the sin bin tripped by opposition landed on the small swing gate off the ice on his teeth

had a dream where all my teeth where just falling out apparently it means insecurity..
well yeh because of the cost!!

so maybe full dentures is the way forward

Yeh ste there are some people from work that have gone to Latvia and Poland I think for the same treatment for a couple of grand that should of cost 20k over here
They have gone full "horse teeth " though it just looks wrong
They only last six years or something as well
I'll just stay looking like a pirate I only need the eye patch and the peg leg which I'm sure will come on the NHS as I get older and they cut costs

I have something similar where by teeth are quite jammed so one of my bottom ones at the front has twisted round and therefore can cut my tongue on the corner of the tooth.

Do you have to wear the retainer at night even after treatment. . One assumes with braces once they are off you are done ?

At present I have had some filed of corner of tooth, but not perfect, as find it very irritating but not 4k irritating !

at the end of the plan you have to wear retainers for 22 hours per day for 6 months and then you can wear the retainers at night only. These companies also do a night only plan btw

my teeth were pretty wonky and now they are virtually perfect, I am now on the retainer phase

as far as i am aware most braces take at least a year so it will be about same amount of time as the aligners but i saved at least 3k, maybe more

this is the company i used
