i spoke to someone today in work who has recently purchased and EV, and he told me to sign up for those sorts of things they increase your cost massively during the day, he can be a bit bullshitty though
he is currently charging his EV at a local pub every few days for 80p per KW...go figure

I don’t think maths is the dude’s strong point. He is literally paying more than 10x what he needs to for his car.

I am not sure if I understand why anyone would not want to save potentially big money.
I am on Octopus Tracker April 24.
Today, for electric I will be paying 21.48p rather than the gov cap of 25.26p (saving 17.6%)
Today, for Gas I will be paying 4.48p rather than 5.96p (saving 33.0%)
I only moved across to Octopus when Scottish Power ceased trading around Dec 2023 so I did not know about Octopus Tracker.
People on the tracker since Dec 2021 must be laughing their heads off at the "energy crisis". They are paying 43.5% less for Electric and 40.2% less for gas than the government agreed rates!!!
And if you search for Octopus Tracker Prices Historic Data, you will see that the TRACK PRICES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN (WELL) BELOW THE GOV AGREED CAPPED PRICES. That's why why the energy companies have made super profits over the last two or three years.

Im on a rate designed for Heat Pumps so get 3 hours in the morning and 3 in the afternoon of cheap rate, then its normal rate for the rest of the time except 4pm to 7pm where its a lot more expensive (45p+ per KWh) , but I use my battery storage and solar to offset that.
I think on average anything I have pulled from the grid Im currently paying about 12.4p per KWh and its due to go down a little bit in July.
If I had a more powerful inverter on my battery storage (Currently max 3KW) then it would be down to 11.4p KWh, but Im sorting that out shortly.

A slight warning : The OCTOPUS TRACKER CAPS are set much higher but if prices start going up, you can revert back to the normal rate.

I'm Octopus too, by default, after Bulb went tits up. I guess you all got the email about prices coming down in July (but they're not going to reduce my monthly payments 🤷♂️). A price cut just before an election... Hmmm. The whole operation is a complete racket. Lol.
It is if they chose that date for an election because they saw it as an opportune time.

Ive personally been ok with smart meters,payg so i know whats what,then few months ago the b#####ds talked my wife into quarterly while i was out at shops,got a bill for 6 weeks worth of elec & gas, £1220.major p####d,looks like im gonna have to start burning furniture! may go and live in the woods with a super long extension lead for my machines!lol.
