Hello mate, welcome to the forum!
Your username just gave me flashbacks to the early 90's and following a Liverpool band with the same name !!

Welcome! Coalville area here so not too far from you I expect. I'm more into pinballs but got a couple of Outrun cabs still (y)
Hey ronsplooter, I absolutely love my one and only pinball table (got plenty of VR ones but that’s not the same) but maaan those things are expensive. One day I’d love 2 more, a classic Williams (probably Attack from Mars) and an up to date stern (Jaws or Godzilla) but I can only dream for now. This is the bit where you tell me you’ve got a room for of them and I get insanely jealous!

No way! I was in that band!!! No I wasn’t really but that would have been so cool. It’s been my gamer tag online since xbox live beta (2002). Thanks for the welcome.

I was born Leicestershire before moving to Bristol. I was up there visiting my dad with kids a few weeks back. and went to the space musuem but found I took more pictures in the free museum next door instead . Leicester people are always welcome.
Whoever mentioned Coalville I had a Saturday job in Dixons and Morrisons , oh happy days :)

Again whenever Coalville is mentioned I wonder what happened to a guy from there (western avenue), who was a regular on jammaplus forum and had a decent well stocked home arcade room from pictures he posted… his tag ‘akastaff’ real name Clive Price ? Is he still about maybe different ID ?

Wondered that myself, he used to replace his machines quite regular but he bought the Super Monaco GP deluxe I spotted on ebay in background of other machine for sale and had that 3 screen Ridge Racer, also had an real early Penny Falls pusher machine

I've got about 20 pins at the moment although not all of them are setup at home. If you ever want to come round and play a few games then give me a shout (y)

Love the table, did you refurb it yourself?
Tbh is not refurbed yet. I bought it as spares/repairs pretty much like this (I gave it a clean and checked connections). It’s not reliably working so I’m going to have it looked over by a pro (when I can find one!). I have another one (b/w) that’s in worse shape but I think I’ll get this one sorted properly first. Is Space Invaders in your collection or wish list?

I have just got a Taito Space Invaders 1979 cocktail table and just staring on the refurb journey with it.
It doesn't look as clean as yours yet.

Hi there,

Lifelong gamer here (55), initiated in the 70’s with Space Invaders and never looked back. Most of the last 30 years on various iterations of consoles but earlier this year I stuck an lcd in my dining room table and an Atari and started playing some retro games on it.
Turns out this re-ignited a long lost feeling that hits differently than the latest COD.

Shortened version is that I bought some Arcade1ups, an original (Data East) Star Wars pinball table, spent the summer building a Star Wars Arcade sit down/Cockpit and most recently acquired an original Taito Space Invaders Cocktail Table (which is a simply beautiful piece of retro styling).

Looking at my machines it only just occurred to me that sub consciously I must have always liked the simplicity of black/dark background games i.e Ateroids, Star Wars, Defender, Centipede, Pong, Space Invaders, Tempest (the only exception in my setup is a SF2 big blue because that was such a game changer that actually got me back in Arcades in the 90’s).

Anyway, looking forward to arcade chats

Welcome
Yes the early arcade nostalgia with games like Asteroids, Space Invaders, Defender etc. I remember being a kid and walking around all those beautiful creations with also the wonderful electro-mechanical games and classic pinball tables dotted around next to them. The lights and the sounds of the old arcades. Magical, heavenly.
