You might want to try Connexions Ltd., a company who specialise in cables.

Several years ago, I used to use them for customised cables for control and monitoring projects I used to run.
For example, they used to do soldered 25-way D-connectors to your spec. for a few quid, in low quntities.
They might be competetive.
For the IDC connectors, I had a tool which cost an arm and a leg, but on site, doing them in a vice never gave any problems.
