I have just posted this over at Jamma+ forum in reply to criticism of me by Luke Wells for my reasoning for resurrecting UKVAC:
.. And there you have it in one quote Mr Wells you have hit the nail right on the head. This has got nothing to do with Jamma+ or UKVAC; it's all to do with having fun and a laugh.
Behind all the bravado and comments I have no problem with Jamma games, and I defenently have no problem with any of the Jamma+ members, in fact I very much admire and appreciate what they have done keeping this hobby alive. I hope anybody who has met me face to face will testify to that.
What you have to realise is that UKVAC came from a different time. Yes it was bitchy, rude, outspoken and mean. but it was also a hell of a group to be part of especially at meets. The "old stick in the muds" you refer to are nearly all out there. but believe me they are nearly all (including me) demoralised with no inspiration to do anything arcade related. and more worryingly some on the verge of giving up. Infact my main reason why I am kick-starting UKVAC is we have just lost one of the main old school members to real life, something I thought I would never see as I thought he was Mr Arcade FOR life.
It's the name more than anything. it's almost retro in itself. It truly does conjour up memories of happier times when this hobby was fun. I am doing this as my own project not in ANY WAY to challenge or fight Jamma+. just for my own sake. Hell. that is the game we are all in, preserving memories and moments. If people choose to join me so be it.. no pressure. I suppose it is like the football team you supported as a kid, you can either change to Man United and be successful or be like me a Palace fan and stick with that side, loose all the time, suffer the lower leagues but still be proud that they are your team. UKVAC is like that a lot of the time, but they are my friends and to be blunt I miss them all.
Jamma+ are your team to be proud of, and you should be proud because they are all top people. But they aint UKVAC. THERE JUST NOT NASTY ENOUGH
Here endeth the lesson

Final word Luke, look on the positive side. at least Oll will be gone. He will be too busy pissing of UKVAC to bother with Jamma+
