Never done it that way before. I usually drag solder, then check with a microscope. As for removal, I’ll shield surrounding components with capson tape and baking paper as to not short anything.

I also normally just drag solder and lift with Tweezers unless it's an ASIC then I paste a heatsink on top, low melt and hot air
