Thanks everyone - I'm really pleased with the early response to this - I've had to place another order for a further batch of books from the printers. (Still have a few copies here if anyone wants to order).

Ordered one right away when seeing your announcement just now, thanks for making it in the first place !. Since I just saw the above comments a signed copy would be nice but - maybe shipped from somewhere elsewhere - no problem unsigned either.
I can empathize about just how much time you must have spent learning about the game, becoming good at it, getting better at it, getting .reliably. better at it... I myself am playing Tutankham in earnest - and it is still a real challenge every time I play; even though I routinely can now get scores which would net me the all-time high score. So amongst others this really interests me: how Missile Command compares as a challenge (and no, I am not planning to play MC, just curious). How should I put it, how does it 'feel' to play it as well as you ? Tutankham for me is a snake, get comfortable or daydream for just a second and it'll likely bite you. And one error in 2hours of play is enough: game over. But.. but.. those near perfect games feel just fantastic, a real achievement..

I know right? I was very keen for people not to have cash tied up for long periods of time (especially given my lazy ass took ages to finish the damned thing!).
Great book Tony, really enjoyed it, thinking about buying another copy as I recon these could be worth more than 1st edition Harry Potters in a few years!
Honestly if anyone is on the fence about buying a copy do it, I cant remember enjoying a book so much since I found a Playboy on the golf course when I was 12.

mine arrived today, REALLY impressed with the production of it, this is a solid item that will last forever years, must have cost a few quid to get printed!
have only read the first chapter so far but very evocative of the feelings we all had as kids in the very early 80s when nuclear war seemed just round the corner and inevitable - pretty scary to look back on and glad kids these days have no idea what it was really like then.

As for a follow up - right now I'm saying no! It was really such hard work to write (staying motivated to get it over the line was a real challenge), then trying to figure out all the complexities of publishing/pricing and all that stuff. I have an idea to pull together some of my blog articles as an e-book at some point, which I think will be an easier endeavour.
Was the 257 pages a happy coincidence?
I really enjoyed this book. The first half was a fascinating history lesson, and the second half incredibly amusing with the competitive politics that go along with high scores.
One of the most informative and readable gaming books I've read. Great use of photos and technical drawings from the archives too.
