Yeah I skipped the Wii-U, although looking back, it was a fairly interesting bit of kit.
I expect there'll be more unique stuff on the S2 in a year or so (and it won't be £400).
I wish the Arcade emulation stuff was M2 style reworks, rather than basic emulation though. The stuff you used to get on 3DS, PS2/3 and XBLA was often superb .

I never had a Wii and ignored the Wii-U because I thought it was an add-on for the Wii. I didn't know it was a completely separate console. Lol

We'll see but I'd take a bet on that.

I'm on minimum wage and I don't find the £400 shocking when compared to the inflation of everything else. Min wage itself has gone up over 60% since the Switch 1 was released, while the price increase from S1 to S2 is 40%.

Sales would have to be disastrous to see an RRP drop. It's not so much a hike, it's a new normal.

Nintendo aren't in the habit of loss-leading at the best of times, and recent years have been terrible times for Japanese economy.

Let my boys stay up late and we had a good few hours of Mario Kart. It's absolutely fantastic. Multiplayer is ridiculously fun as always but the World part was so so much better than I expected.

Damn it, you do make a good case that it won't drop 🤪.
£400 is exactly what £300 was in 2017 if you use an inflation calculator and Nintendo rarely drop their RRP.
I guess it would have to do a Wii U.
I'm trying to recall what prompted us to get our first Switch. I think it was actually a year we had no other ideas for a Christmas present for the kids. It got hammered a lot for a few years, so no regrets. S2 is probably shiny and new enough it'll do ok this Christmas.

Yeah I think it'll do ok but not incredibly well.

I had a Wii U and as a hopeless fanboy I kind of liked the lack of games. It was easy to keep up with new-release news.

Of course the Welcome Tour should be free. 😒

Like everyone I wasn't going to buy it on principle but deep down I wanted it. Which made it the perfect birthday present that my eldest just gave me.

much like apple, if you are involved in the ecosystem and love the brand and what it provides, it makes perfect sense to buy one

if you want a handheld device that can be docked and love Nintendo and have previous switch games you can play, its a sort of no brainer, i just think will struggle to get new buyers in here, or people who already own something they can play 90% of the library on(the new library that is)

no doubt when they start releasing some games for it i will grab one, but they need to be some killer exclusives

The Game Key, The sWitch 2 and the Nintendo is like a Hot Topic novel on youtube

Now why would Nintendo release Switch 2 with Oled screen, they can sell you a never version with that 4 years later like original Switch

"Gotta keep the Consumers.. well Consuming"

My nephew wasn't happy they ran update that now stops you sharing a game to play online with friend without both having to buy the game!

I got mine. It's a really premium piece of kit. Battery life is pretty shocking but it's the best Nintendo Switch you can own. All of its issues are really down to the state of modern gaming in general rather than a fault of the system. It will sell fine. People moan about pricing in video games but it never seems to make a difference. It might not outsell the Wii U, but it will do just fine. I can't see me ever buying another console again after this as we take the slow march to download only subscription model gaming, but this is great fun to play. I think a lot of people just want Nintendo to fail, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.
