Good solid 1080p/1440p PC there mate. The 3080 is still a great card, I tested a 3080ti recently and it's not far off 3090 performance, and that's still a really good card.

Something like a 12700/K would probably be more optimal for long term.

This movie shows how an overclocked Intel 8 P-Core CPU and overclocked DDR5 ram can handle an overclocked 5090 (Lowest setting in order to test how much CPU bottlenecks things) at 1440p, the GPU is still the bottleneck so he will be fine with that setup for a good few years.

He's happy with, Paid £600 which seemed pretty decent :)

Ok, initial results were good. They seem to have changed what they said they had and System is running ram at 6000mhz and is definitely more stable, however still getting errors in memtest86 although a hell a lot less than previously. It's a single error on test 8 on every pass. I know even a single error isn't great and Google tells me test 8 errors can be caused by issues with overclocking. Not entirely sure where I go from here.

Post some ZenTimings screenshots and some bios screenshots with voltages (VDD, VDDIO, etc)
A small boost or reduction in voltage should probably make you stable.
As above.

You could also manually set your SOC voltage from auto to a 'safe' fixed voltage. Google suggests 1.2v but best to do some reading to confirm.

Its been a while since I tinkered with AMD so I can't help much more than that.

Not really sure what I'm looking for but those are from Bios. I also noticed it was running the EXPO 2 profile so have just switched to EXPO 1 as I understand that can be more stable. Will see how that goes. It's cleared the first pass in memtest86 with no errors which is encouraging 🙂.

If it was my rig I'd first try lowering the SOC voltage to 1.2v.

Sometimes less voltage is more stable.

With ram instability there's always the urge to change multiple things at once to try and save time, but there is no fast way to try and resolve instability.

Also check how warm the ram is getting, either by using HWinfo or simply by touch.

Not sure if your sticks have temps sensors on them, most decent ram these days do, but ram can get unstable if they get too warm, I try and keep mine under 50 if not watercooling them.

Ok, no errors in EXPO 1 profile at 6000mhz so I think I can confirm they fixed whatever the issue was before I sent it back. Think I'll probably leave it where it is as I don't want to jinx it further 😁. It would have been nice if they'd have tested it properly before returning it though. Ram peaked at 54 under testing but was generally at around 40 or a bit lower. Just ran 3D mark and getting about 14175 which is about 170 points more than before. Still below average for the configuration but given I'm not boosting or overclocking anything I think that's probably fair.

I messaged PC Specialist yesterday to express my disappointment to having received the PC back with it still failing memtest86. Got a message back today offering to change the ram again (for the 4th time) 🙄. Seems to be running ok at EXPO 1 settings rather than EXPO II they had set it to so think I'll leave it. Just a bit irritated with how useless / clueless they seem.
