They seem to be well engineed these Atari PCB's so I will stick with mine and see how I get on. In the space of a fews months though I have had issues with my Tempest, Asteroids and Centipede PCB's. All are now resolved though !
Nice work Smarty. I too recently fixed a tempest with error code M (Mathbox error) QP (audio 1/2). Same symptoms as Smarty. It broke down just after I moved it a few feets to rearrange my cabs.
I find best way to see if it's a connector problem is test resistance between each wire on the connector (making sure you use the solder pads as your test points and not on top of the connector). Any with resistance of above the resistance of the actual wires themselves (also compensating for resistance in the probe itself). Any connections found with abnormal resistance I either use a flat head screwdriver to push the wire into the socket more or reflow the joints. In my case the connector was fine but just cold solder joints on two connections (they had resistance of 4ohms before the reflow). Cured both M QP faults.
