Good info. I've got a round key lock on a coin bucket door that I need to open. No way to get in behind it. I've heard these type of locks can be opened using a plastic pen, but had no luck with that. Really don't want to drill, but looks like I've no choice.
You can get pick lock tools from aliexpress for the round lock type for fairly cheap. You have to be carefull which ones you buy though as I got a set recently and they didnt have the tension pins to put inside the barrell so would just turn on the lock so sent them straight back and bought another set that showed the pins in the pictures.

you can get a lock bump pick as mentioned earlier, but it still doesnt solve the problem of you not having a key unless you buy one for each lock

worth taking not though that this is only a set for locks with 7 pins, your lock may be different

The lock pick shown bit like a pen barrel but metal with seven tensionable probe feelers align with pins pushing in to simulate the round key recess pattern then turn carefully but if there is tight pressure on the tongue it’s really hard to turn them and ideally you need to guess or remember if it turned clockwise or anti-clockwise before key was mislaid?

I have opened a huge number on round lock fruits secure turn handle locks on change machines and crane grabs etc, just technique and trial takes maybe 15 seconds - 2or 3 minutes save drilling as that doesn’t work if you can’t knock it through the lock body for any reason? Like if tongue is in a metal slot recess it won’t go backward.

Some glass / button panel locks on fruits don’t have enough space to insert pick above win tray . They need a different tool altogether!

It's a cab I got recently so never had the key, or even know which way to turn to unlock. Also, the door is a very tight fit by the looks of it. No gap at all, and doesn't move even a tiny bit when pushed/pulled. I think that even if I had the key, it would be hard to open still. Prime candidate for drilling, I guess.

Has Mr Drill got you some treasure yet? Could be a stack of boards stored in those cabs
mate, i broke 2 drill bits trying to get into one of the cabs over the weekend, no idea what the bloody locks are made of, going to order a tubular lock pick for the round ones and speak to 69er about keys for the other locks see if he has spare keys i can try

You have to have relay good drill bits , no shit from argos , ebay or ali express !!! Stick the drill on slow and take your time. My dad is an engineer and he has drill bits he had for 40 years , I went down after I got stuck drilling with some cheap argos set (It was a Makita set mind !). My Dad just laughed at me when I said i had them from Argos , His drill bit ripped through it. Was not a lock mind !

Haha , I am no engineer but my dad taught me to go slow and let the drill do the work and dont push hard at all. For the record my set was like £30 so I didnt think that was cheap either !!. But I am a tight arse to be fair. I have messaged my dad to see what bits he uses as I have no clue , Message you when he answers. I want to see what goodies are in side as much as you :) .

Dave.
