Starfox was fairly costly for me as well. I bought the US one and soon realised my convertor wasn't compatible with the extra fx stuff 😔 My parents were less than impressed at another run back to town and more money. Great game though.

£160!! Jesus that is impressive
He bought it the moment it came out on import when prices were ridiculous for it. He'd made a cab in school to put his tv in and I brought some strong double sided tape home from work and we stuck his XE-1 sfc joystick on to it 😆. Those were the days. We both bought real cabs a year or two after that.

I do collect aftermarket releases too - only recently got into them. Sunset Riders was never released in Japan so had to get that one. :)

I saw that on the other thread and thought wow that looks really nice, how did I miss that game for my collection lol

So is it officially licensed by Konami or just a fan made re-production? Thanks

Only one I went a bit nuts for was Starfox - so much hype around that at the time and I can well remember Andy Crane (IIRC) reviewing it on Bad Influence. I can't remember what I did or ate yesterday but for some reason these things stick in my brain and I can still picture myself ordering it from a phone box on holiday in Sheringham for something like £90!

This is lovely to hear about Starfox - remember the big hype around the release and can say that it is still my 10 year old sons Joint Favorite with SMW. 92 stages found so will soon join his completed list.

Super Nintendo fever with the release of SMW and then stf2 was certainly my most eagerly anticipated console moment. 6months before release in the UK I had picked up a Neo Geo AES console out of the ads newspaper ‘ Loot’ with 7 games for £190. Rinsed it for 6 months and then came to the realization as a 16 yr old kid that I couldn’t afford to pay hundreds for a new game to play so asked my Dad to take to London and sell to the game exchange near Tottenham crt rd. A good chunk of the proceeds went towards snes and a US version of stf2… for the sheer enjoyment and snes gaming journey it took me on it was worth it but wish I had picked up an extra few shifts in fruit and veg shop now rather than sold AES 😂

The artwork is outstanding on the Japanese releases in particular . Would love to put a little collection together but would have to give up collecting something else first tho .
I looked through a lot of game shops in Hong Kong recently but nearly all the super famicom games were loose carts to my surprise.

boxed stuff is becoming harder and harder to afford these days, i collect for a different console that is not as mainstream as the Super Nintendo/Famicom and its a pricey business

I can well believe it, not a price market I know much about yet but even buying a decent condition n64 Lylat wars in a box for my son’s Christmas present was more than I imagined.
Love the games but artwork is also high up there so will try and build a small collection of our faves.

I love the Super Famicom. Beautiful boxart and so many classics - most of which cost around £20-£40 nicely boxed.
