I believe its on those 161-1 MVS carts that Mark of the wolves doesn't work properly as I am sure I read once that its a prototype romset so it has bugs,

Now I dont know about the Darksoft cart, but I have both the NEOSD and the Backbit flash cart and MOTW runs fine on both as far as I have played them,,,..

Was gonna buy a Backbit – looks good, support too. Nice!

not really much, but here you go, went to the Liverpool gaming thing today, John Rewmero was there getting mobbed by the fans and spoke to the guy runs the Replay events

Managed to snag this, in brilliant condition considering, and was only £15 as well

Many thanks to @Ace` who replaced the buffer chips on my fried Crazy Taxi cartridge (y)
He also sold me a recapped Naomi PSU so that it doesn't happen again (touch wood)
(Whilst I'd have got round to recapping mine eventually, there's no way that my sausage fingers could have tackled those tiny buffers on the cartridge!)

It arrived last week but I only got round to fitting it at the weekend. Fitting the cartridge took seconds but swapping out the PSU involved moving that HotD which was a mission in the crammed room!

Yes on the standard yellow cartridge the game resets when certain characters do special moves at the same time, which is going to happen.
However I believe reading on arcade projects there is now a rom patch which updates with better games and menu, non trivial to update yourself.

that's the "vortex" mod. it takes the chips from 2 161-1 carts and increases the memory so you can have the full set on 1 cart. It's also the sole reason the 161-1 carts aren't £30 any more.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 arrived this weekend to Wahoobies towers.

Years ago I had a CPS-2 A motherboard, and would swap out SFa2z, SFa3 in a "fun company" were I worked roughly 2000-2003. We also had a SF2Ce board set that originally came with the cabinet.

The cabinet was obtained cheaply ($200) and was a defender originally.. it was "Jamma'd" with a SF2 board and replaced fairly-crude control panel with 2x 6 button players. It still had very nice side art back then, and I wish I had it still to make back into a defender!

Eventually I replaced the CRT with a brand new Wells-Gardner one (around 2002?) when that was still fairly easy to obtain.. had fun adding a satellite/subwoofer set for QSound.. and even did a very early mame cabinet attempt with a 1Ghz AMD chip and advancemame/linux.

Anyway- it's been very interesting to see the real hardware in action again. The input timing seems slightly better vs Mister or EMU.. also the dither effect used for "Translucency" looks so much better on a real board. Bright, vivid colors too- I wonder if the outputs are simply more correct than mister or recalbox jamma.

Loads of fun, and phoenix version boots to the "blue logo screen" which has all the time unlocks on by default.. dramatic battle, survival mode, extra-ism classic mode, etc. Only thing missing on this set is UI selects to make juni/juli/balrog easier

I was really fortunate to have picked up a cab off this forum last year that I've been wanting for a very long time. It was a cab in a rough state, but the previous owner Joushuu did a brilliant job getting it cleaned up and a lot of the metal powder coated. They hadn't got round to finishing it off, so there are a few bits left for me to do.

It was missing the coin reject plate/rods and rubber foot piece. The rubber was nice and easy to find and cut to size. The coin reject was a bit trickier. Massive thanks to Inusuke for helping me. I got a pre-cut piece of aluminium Zed section 300mm x 19mm x 19mm, some 6mm x 50mm rods, and some 6mm e-clips. Putting my lovely new calipers to work, I measured and remeasured for 5 x holes as I only had a mil or so tolerance before the rods would just get stuck, or not even line up. Thankfully my drilling worked out nicely. Now I've got a template, I'll have a look in the future for some metal that is closer to the original.

I'm probably never gonna use the coin rejects, but it finishes off the front of the cab nicely
Then again, I might send a message to someone about a possible coin reject credit button switch ;)

Next up is the missing bezel. I've picked up a donor bezel that I'm hoping can be cut to fit. I'll post an update once I get round to it.

I'm also missing a coin slot for a 1p Cute Clone panel. I decided to give AI a go at creating a 3D printable for me. Whilst I was doing it, I also did one for the Q25 as it's pretty similar.
Although they're very simple, I've never used any 3D modelling software so AI really has done a great job at creating something I wouldn't have been able to do without putting many hours into a 3D modelling program. If they fit ok, I'll get the added to the AO wiki and thingiverse
