Hello Rich/Chunksin

Could you possibly do a "Windows 7 Embedded image" without GroovyMame and Attract Mode?
I would love this to setup my Mala with.

Firstly, a massive thank you to Chunksin for this. Without this, my machines would be setup on WINDOWS XP 32 BIT forever.

One thing I would like to change.
Is it possible to get the WINDOWS 7 BOOT ANIMATION back on my systems?
I have tried many solutions from Internet and none have worked and some have made the system non-bootable BUT I did have Acronis Backups to get it back without much hassle.

Thanks again....

A word of warning for anyone about to buy a used PC for this.....the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Core I5-7500 will not work so should be avoided, I have spent hours on this battling with it, but it just does not like legacy boot so always BSD's once the hard drive image takes over. I have even regressed to a pre windows 8 bios version and still it wont work.

Does anyone know where the roms need to be located on the usb stick when updating using the U scripts.
I put the new mame exe on root and that was copied over, but i put a roms folder in the same place with all the changed and new roms in there, and the automated script did nothing with them.

Did you make sure
Drive letter path is correct ?

You can add multiple locations

Well I'm assuming the drive letter was ok as It grabbed the exe from e::\ but the roms in E:\roms\ the script finished in the blink of an eye , much too fast to have copied over the amount of roms in there. I'm going to take another look at it tonight, maybe try e:\mame\roms as the source folder

Yeh I would ..
Then run the rom search
C:\Groovymame\Roms;

I know the instructions say to use a Pi 3b or 3b+, but has anyone used the image with a pi zero? I know it wouldn't run complicated games, but would it work for the early games, or is the image pi3 and above only?

My groovy mame attract mode
Is not launching my roms.

I have read attract mode automatically adds a .zip in the roms list it genarates and this can cause issues such as mine .
And it is recommended to remove the .zip from the roms list .

Any simple ways to remove the .zip from list ?

Csn I just go to list and delete it per game ?

I have confirmed all my roms launch fine from my mame,
Just not from attract mode.

I do have the original_mame64.exe in my mame folder along with my
Mame64.exe

I have noticed if I launch mame64.exe from windows

When launching a rom it switches res 4 times before launching ? This ain’t right ?

If I launch original_mame64.exe
Switch Rez just does it once as normal ..

Só when I’m in attract mode
With mame64.exe and I launch a rom my res changes , pauses for a second then switches back to games select screen .. no game launched 🥲

I have read this
3. Verify ROM File Extensions

  • Remove .zip from ROM List: Some users have reported that Attract-Mode automatically adds a .zip extension to the ROM filenames when building the list. Remove this .zipextension from your ROM list in Attract-Mode for them to launch correctly.
Could it be the above causing my attract mode not to launch ?

I have checked script in attract and I copy exactly the executable and have tried both,

My mame rom path shows this symbol ¥
Like this D:¥mame:¥roms

Could it be this ?
Is it normal for mame rom location to show \ as ¥ ?

Also I have been thinking could it me my vmm config ?

Just wondering if anyone els has this problem ?
I can just reinstall groovymame but I’m doing this a lot because of this issue .
What seems to happen is
I install a fresh install it works fine then after a little while say I have played the cab 10 times
I go to play and it has this issue with not launching roms.

I can look at the script on my other groovymame builds to see how they are set up,

I am using groovymame
With a tri sync monitor
No Jpac .
VGA only
But with a Radeon crt emu driver, and auto tri sync works great ,
15,24,31k
This build was working from attract mode last time I powerd up ..

I would love to find out what is doing this and resolve rather than reinstall,

Thanx for any pointers 👍

I have never tried the chunksin pi image ,
But I’m sure I read that chunksin said it will work but you may need to find upgrade / downgrade if you like to the ver. Of mame that is more suitable for pi zero .

Downgrade /upgrade mame

Replace .exe with ver mame you want to use.
