If you want to replace the snapshots with videos instead you can drop them into the videos folder on the USB stick (the folder structure should be created when you first boot up with the USB stick in place), most formats are supported.
Ah, so I've been tempted with the whole console games thing on my Dino King cabs, but actually.. I held back from it.
I have my cabs for a reason, for the arcade experience. Plus.. shoulder button controls on console games don't translate well to arcade control panel buttons really.
So I left my pi jamma box specifically running arcade games only.
For my console box, I got a rather nice mini NES case so I could sit on the sofa and play console games using a controller, on my large CRT. I combined the NES case with USB SNES controllers and a GPIO to Scart lead, which was pricey - I could have made similar myself, but I was feeling lazy and it's done the job reasonably well (props to Escape-to-88 for giving me the heads up on this one).
The image this runs off is Recallbox, so completely different than the attractmode RetroArch image Rich has created for our JammaPi boxes. I've not yet bothered trying to hack about with it at all - I just copied a load of SNES games on that are either rediculous prices these days, or ones I have mint boxes for that I don't want to ruin by continually opening and closing them to take the carts out.
Some pics of the guts of it, and a clash of non-matching brands, models, and aspect ratios to give purists the wibblies on the lower right:
