Just like using paints, thinners, solvents, fuels etc, use a simple face-mask and gloves when applying and be in a well ventilated area.

For the kind of quantity you're using and exposure you're likely to have i'd say risk is low.

Thanks James. I'll pull the monitor out of the cab and do it outside with face mask, gloves and safety glasses

Safety glasses is prob a bit overkill, just don't inhale it or get it on your skin much.

Its talking about large quantities of exposure over time I think.

Corona dope does sound a bit LA Gangsta to me.

Sounds great, been a while since I felt anaemic.

No joy with Corona Dope. It looks like it can't be shipped to the UK due to it being flammable. Any other suggestions would be appreciated

I've now got the monitor out of the cab, and can take a good picture of the damage. It looks pretty bad:

As the weather is pretty decent outside, it's time to get the nasty insulating varnish out to see if I can fix this

I've fixed this area and I don't hear the same hissing noise as I did before. I'll power it up in the dark tonight just to see if I can see any arcing.

Monitor fires up without the shutdown disabled, with game on screen.

I altered the H Freq as previously suggested and the monitor stays on.

The only thing I can hear is like an occasional tick sound, but I don't know if that is the tube warming up or not. I'll try and have it on for a longer period of time tonight 5-10mins and see if the same sound continues

I've taken the monitor out of the cab now to do the repairs so I can see what is going on if anything is smoking etc

If you had to adjust the H hold to get the monitor to power up then you have an issue in the HV section, this could have also been contributing to your arcing problem.

You need to check/replace the poly caps at C40 & C36 which are at the side of the lopt.

I didn't adjust anything.

However there is still an issue with it. I fired it up and had it on for about 5 mins. In that time the picture did go off and back on. I'll try and take a video of it, to give a better understanding of my description

I've had this on about 10 mins with a known working PCB and its been solid.

When I saw the screen go off it could be the PCB I was using. It is a known faulty one and it could have reset, although it hasn't done that on my test bench.

The monitor needs some adjustment, but overall I think it is ok to use now? I am still hearing the occasional tick, but I cannot work out where it is coming from, and it doesn't seem to be interferring with what's on screen like before
