I can't really look at the moment as busy but I'm holding on with upgrading the wife's iPad 1 as I want to see what the surface is like. I'm thinking pass my ipad2 down the line and get a Windows 8 surface

Providing they don't screw anything up (quite a big ask!) then the are going to be HUGE! (As in success)
I installed the Win 8 eval last night into a VM and I have to say I was very impressed. Loved it. The full screen takes a little getting used to on a 24" screen as its a bit in your face but not a problem. You can very quickly and easily get used to things provided you have the mindset to want to.
One slight problem with the Surface is that I've already invested quite a bunch of cash in iPad apps. And I won't be alone. I don't know how Microsoft are going to get over that one.
Yeah I thought about that also. Someone that's invested maybe £50+ of app cash into iOS might not move even though they want too. I was lucky as I had about £10 in apps on my iPhone, so it wasn't an issue to get rid of the thing.
I'm probably somewhere in between. My bigger issue is with apps I have on iPad / android pone that just aren't there for Windows. Stuff like the British Gas app. Not insurmountable but it was damn handy having an app with a torch on it to use to submit meter readings when your rummaging around in the cupboard trying to read the meter
also missing the World of Warcraft remote app too. Hopefully if surface takes off then windows mobile will see a lot more love from companies.
I think the wave of Windows 8 Apps is coming, I think they will be a lot of Apps released for the platform, which I think will also benefit the Windows Phone 8 platform.
Man they look effing sweet!! I WANT ONE!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Appears to be US only orders at the moment. Hopefully UK pre-orders will be up in the next couple of days.
"Surface will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 26, 2012, at all Microsoft Store locations in the United States and Canada, including in all 34 new holiday stores. In addition, Surface will be available for sale online in eight markets across the world: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States. See Surface.com for more details.""
So I am hoping online pre-orders for the UK come up in the next 48 hours!Alpha12012-10-16 17:34:08
