Either sitting with spinning circles saying processing your request and never finishing, or getting to the next stage and then failing with some sorry, something went wrong message

I guess it's demand. The rest of the site is really snappy but everything from the cart onwards just isn't playing ball. I've tried Windows 8 / IE x, w8 / Chrome, and now w7 /IE 9. All the same.

F**K ME!! FINALLY!!!

Wooooooooooooottttttttt!!!!!!!! (and all that!)

Now 26/10/12 is going to be a real Windows day what with that landing on the doorstep, and the £24.99 download version of W8 being released that day too.

I am assuming of course that MS can actually deliver on the amount of pre-orders they've taken...

Where are you seeing that? They're all showing as available to order in the store still. Hope my order isn't followed up by any kind of "Sorry there's been a delay" email!

Tempted but i recon the price should have been a bit lower, lets hope the cool looks turn it into a must buy product (like it does in the apple world)

Just holding out for a bit to see what hardware everyone else comes up with, i think windows 8 will start a new wave of hardware design (or rehash of some old ones that failed to catch on 10 years ago). Might play it safe and go for the laptop/tablet convertible style like the Sony Duo 11

Not specifically aimed at you Morty, but you post has triggered a general observation on my part on comments that I'm seeing everywhere, in every blog post all over the web.

I'm not entirely following why everyone's saying that they thought it should have been cheaper! OK, obviously I'm not a millionaire so I wish it was too but it's already cheaper than the iPad.

iPad without cover = £479 for 32GB.

Surface without cover = £399 for 32GB

That's a good chunk cheaper and you can add a 64GB SD card as well if you want to and 32GB isn't enough (though Oll tells me that's not for Apps, but movies, videos and so on).

Not trying to stick up for it - it'll succeed or fail on it's own two feet, I'm just not entirely understanding the massive wave of people suggesting it should be cheaper.

I think I'd prefer one of the 'Pro' models or a laptop / tablet hybrid too but I weighed it up the other night and thought about why I really wanted that and came to the conclusion that it was for gaming mostly. And the pro is only going to have an integrated HD4000 GPU and I know that won't really cut the mustard for my gaming needs so I figured to hell with it

Funny, after posting i started to think.. hang on, £399 is the same as my phone! its a great price!

I think its a case of seeing the low pricing of windows 8 and the feeling that ms wants to fight back (at last) that i was hoping they would price it at a level that people would think 'wow thats a bargin' and buy one, especially when google is launching 'cheap' hardware to help shift android. I suppose ms have to be careful not to really another hardware manufacturers, after all this is just a product to demo what can be done

Deffo a 'pro' model for me, then its time to sign up for a developers account and have some fun coding
