Anyone seen this:

Looks like it could be just what Windows 8 was made for. I've pre-ordered just for the hell of it since it's only $60

Yeah it was a kickstarter wastn it. Saw this about a year ago as a concept, Really great we can now track so closely - HOWEVER - As Steve Jobs said, Fingers are not for vertical surfaces......

By the end of the video when I visited the site I was just assuming it was going to be very expensive. If it materialises and works, then at that price it's a no brainer!

Yeah, I kind of agree with that sentiment from Steve Jobs but I'm very particular about fingers touching my desktop screens (as in, I HATE fingerprints!). So that looks like just the ticket.

Besides, without being too cruel about it sadly, Steves no longer with us.

Well, knew that was too good to be true!

Just got the email that says pre-release delivery now expected to be 2nd November. Not sure if that's a delay to the general release or if they just took more pre-orders than they had and I didn't get in there quick enough.

I guess the latter of the two.

I want whatever job you guys have, to be able to have money spare to buy these things!! :)
Leap, hand waving for angry birds, shooters and maps.

I hate everything apple, so strangely I do want MS to be successful here, BUT, my company changed my phone for a windows phone. I tried to keep an open mind, but christ the app selection was awful. I hope apps are created in their thousands and it's great tho, I really do, I can't bear these groups of clones constantly talking about their apple idevices.

Well, before tonight I hadn't stepped out into the outside world since last Sunday when I went to Tesco. In between it's get up, get in front of the computer, log off go to bed. Not even a commute to work. And I'm 43, not some 23 yr old that's just getting loads of time in now while I'm still young.

You know what they say, work hard, play hard. I used to think it was bullsh*t until earlier this year. If you want it, you're welcome to it!!

I haven't checked my hotmail account, and I'm a bit on the worse for wear side to do so right now. Hope it will turn up next Friday, but at the end of the day if it doesn't, so be it. It is, after all only a luxury, not a necessity

I think the app ecosystem will get better. Nokia apps rock, and there's quite a few now and the XBL integration for games is awesome.

Apps will come - I'm pretty sure of it. Up until now there has been fairly limited reason to get on the bandwagon because the Windows phone market was limited and there are also a fairly large element of people, just like me, that when it comes to phones still think that as long as it does phone calls, text messages and these days emails and social networking then that's all I care about.

As far as I'm concerned there are very few things that I want from phone apps as the form factor is simply too small to be practical (and I don't want a huge phone).

But surface and more generally Windows RT devices open that up and remove that barrier - there's now a much bigger incentive for developers to stand up and pay attention to the Windows app store. Well, providing the Windows RT launch goes well anyway, let's hope so.

I'll certainly be looking at developing for it. My biggest problem is lac of spare time and ideas, there's no lack of willingness

There is an awful lot of negativity in the greater outside world surrounding lack of apps in the app store for Windows tablets. The fact of the matter is Windows RT isn't out yet and there's plenty of apps there. iOS and the iPad was no different before they actually hit the shelves. Hopefully people are just being a bit quick to judge.

Can you imagine what Steve Bullmer was doing to the guys at Digital River on Saturday!! Man I wouldn't have wanted to be in their shoes. I bet it wasn't a mistake but someone was very clearly told they would be delivered on time or else!

guddler: very true!
Alpha1: how are you finding it? Like you guys said, there was alot of negativity before it was even released, annoyingly by people who knew very little about it. It was very ballsy to price it so high, but then the hardware is superior. Good experience so far?

Looking good, hopefully microsofts entry into the hardware market will push some of the others to try a bit harder with their designs

Also hoping the competition from tablets (i.e. tablet sales up loads, laptop sales down i believe) will help keep the cost of the pro version down (well i can hope..)

I've had a nexus 10 for a month or so now and it feels a bit like a phone OS trying to be a real computer so hoping some of the hardware really designed for windows 8 will lure me back
