Picked up a new bench test monitor a few weeks back, it's 14" instead of 10" and weighs 16Kg. So turning it on its side was a pain in the neck, time to get the CNC fired up! Here are the pics of what I came up with.

Deep cleaned, reassembled and replacement mint 19" tube fitted. Original power supply, new tube and starter. Just waiting on steering wheel to turn up, and a new chassis.

Will be for sale when complete.

I bought this as a completely dead non worker off eBay the other day.

A bit of fiddling got it powered on. Monitor fired up but horrible picture then some cracking and burning smells. Isolated the power supply and everything is fine. So probably a chassis service required, which I can’t do.

Found a fully working Blade master in there. So whilst I’ve been robbed of a project, it’s not been a bad overall deal. My element of the project lasted about 25 minutes.

Nice one Colin - glad you decided to tackle this yourself. The BZ cabarets are great cabs to work on.

in side a few screws few nuts...
1 dead daddy long legs
1 tooth pick
1 crusty plaster
lots of dirt, dust which i stupidly blew and breathed in...
and cobwebs, nicotine stains..

my plan is to clean all over inside and out with warm water
then with white spirit to get all hard to budge sticky residues
then sand rust...
then try to treat cig burns with h202..

Couple things I definitely should do at some point. I need to try and reduce the squeal coming from my Sega NNC Weiya monitor, but monitors are kinda spooky!

I've been looking at putting together a supergun setup as well, and bought a retroelectronik supergun before reading up on a bunch of negative opinions and potential issues with it sending too much voltage through to an OSSC so, oops, so now I'm waiting on parts for a supergun minigun instead.

Never had to wire up a controller for DB15 before either so that threw me for a loop, bought a Mayflash F500 to gut for that purpose anyway, gonna work on it next week.

Also been doing a lot of small stuff, replacing a capacitor here and there on some new boards I bought recently, and I need to test/socket the Z80 chips on my Silk Worm and Cabal boards because they have no sound and I suspect that's the issue on both. Some new Z80 chips arrived today so that might be saturdays job!

I built this in lockdown a few weeks ago for something to do
I have modded some megadrives before but not built a jamma one
Just the 50 / 60 hz mod on this one as i dont see any real use for the overclock or language switch i have on my other modded one

Giving it to a mate as i dont own a jamma cab :)

Just finished getting my Dreamcast hooked up to a Naomi universal. The controllers was a pita with the official controller because solder doesn’t want to stick to the pads. The power supply is pretty straightforward though. I did struggle to find details of how to hook up the Naomi power supply but worked it out in the end. If anyone is interested in doing the same from Naomi, red=12v , yellow=5, brown 3.3. Dc pins left to right are 12,g,g,g,5,3.3
